Korobooshi (コロボーシ) are one of the Template:Pokenum fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. Korobooshi is famous for being one of the Pokémon revealed before the Japanese release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The purpose of Korobooshi in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[2]
Korobooshi were first officially revealed at the PokéJungle event in Japan, the second to be, after Rozureido. Korobooshi appears to be a firefly Pokémon, similar to Illumise and Volbeat.[3] Korobooshi's name may come from kuroboshi tsutsuhamushi (Cryptocephalus signaticeps), a.k.a. the black-spotted leaf beetle (this may be supported by its beetle-like appearance).
