George W. Bush's official proclamation designating 10 June 2000 as Jesus Day.

In Texas, Jesus Day was proclaimed a state holiday on June 10, 2000, proclaimed by then Governor George W. Bush.

It urged people to "answer the call to serve those in need" as the document reads. It was inspired by the 10th annual "March for Jesus" in Austin.

Bush's initiative was consistent with his personal faith, and was popular with most people across the state, especially religious and social conservatives.
