Pachirisu (パチリス) are one of the Template:Pokenum fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. The Pachirisu is famous for being one of the Pokémon revealed before the Japanese release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, alongside the Cherimu and the Dorapion. The purpose of the Pachirisu in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[2]

Pachirisu appear to be small white squirrels, with yellow cheeks and blue marks on their bodies and tails. These Pokémon may be viewed as the "standard" Electric Pokémon in the games, following such Pokémon as Pikachu and Plusle/Minun, due to the fact that they all share what appears to be shock pads on their cheeks.[3] It has also been announced that Pachirisu are capable of storing static electricity in their long tails.

The name Pachirisu name may be a portmanteau of the Japanese words "pachiri", meaning bright and clear, and "risu", meaning squirrel.

In the video games

Although not much is known about the Pachirisu, some information has been released about its attacks and abilities. It can have either of two existing abilities, Run Away, an ability that increases the chances of the player to run from battle, or Pick Up, an ability that gives a Pokémon with this ability to randomly find items after each battle. The Pachirisu can also learn the existing attacks Thunderbolt, Charm, and Sweet Kiss.[4] It is known that Pachirisu will be able to use the new attacks, First Place, which allows it to always attack first by using PP from other moves, and Discharge, an electrical attack that hits both of the user's opponents and its partner.[5]
