Stone of Scone

The Stone of Destiny, also known as the Stone of Scone, is a block of sandstone historically kept at the abbey in Scone, near Perth, Scotland. Since Kenneth Mac Alpin in around 847, Scottish kings were seated apon the stone as part of their inauguration.
In 1296 the stone was taken to Westminster Abbey by Edward I and placed under the Coronation Chair where English monarchs sat apon it to symbolise their dominion over Scotland as well as England.
