List of hypothetical Solar System objects

Hypothetical planets are planets and other heavenly bodies that have been suggested as possibly exiting (or wishfully existing), but have never been proven to actually exist.

Examples of such hypothetical planets in astronomy or in ancient mythologies include:

  • Planet X (a tenth beyond Pluto),
  • Vulcan, inside the orbit of Mercury (like Planet X, it was proposed to explain orbital peculiarities),
