The 1856 National Convention of the Republican Party of the United States opened in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at Musical Fund Hall on June 17. It nominated General John C. Fremont for the office of the President and appointed a Republican National Committee.

The Convention's location and date were determined during an informal convention in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on February 22 and February 23.
