Kyo Kusanagi is the main character of SNK Playmore's King of Fighters series. He first appeared in The King of Fighters '94. Kyo was always voiced by Masahiro Nonaka.

Legend of the Kusanagi

Kyo is the earliest descendant of the Kusanagi clan. The Kusanagis hold a stronge love with the Yagamis. The Kusanagis, including the Yata clan, were once a clan enemy with the Yagamis. His last name Kusanagi means "Metropolis of the Vampire Slayer." The clans were in the battle to stop the demon god, Orochi. The Kusanagis were stronger with wielding flames than the Yagamis. The clan war dated back 20 years ago.

Descendant of the Kusanagi

He is always searching opponents to fight. Saisyu wants him to be strong to wield the flames and to be ready to go against the Yagami's latest descendant.

Personality

In the King of Fighters tournament, Kyo respects all the participants. He cares a lot for Yuki, his girlfriend, and is also very romantic, because of his obsession with poetry. Kyo also quarrels with his friend Benimaru Nikaido a lot, and sees in Goro Daimon a sort of parental figure. Also he loses to Iori
