Santa Cruz is a province of Argentina, located in the south of the country. The capital is Río Gallegos. The province has a population of 196,958 (2001), and covers an area of 243,943 km². It borders the province Chubut to the north, and Chile to the west and south. To the east is the Atlantic Ocean. The current Argentine President, Nestor Kirchner, was previously the governor of Santa Cruz.

The province is divided in 7 departments (spanish departamentos)
