Article was listed on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion Jun 25 to Jul 1 2004, consensus was to keep. An archived discussion may be found here. -- Graham ☺ | Talk 01:11, 1 Jul 2004 (UTC)
MBE
"On June 12, 1965, The Beatles were individually created Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by Queen Elizabeth II. " Why is the word "created" used? Is this a British English vs. American English thing? --24.94.179.179 08:13, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)
allie 00:21, 1 Jan 2005 (UTC)sorry, but it's not the Queen's English. It should read: On June 12, 1965, HRH Queen Elizabeth II awarded each Beatle the honorary title, Member of the Order of the British Empire.
Putting The Beatles before the Queen is inverted syntax...except, perhaps, for John.
allie 00:21, 1 Jan 2005 (UTC)and btw, having read the rules of grammer and "weaseltalk," I CAN'T BELIEVE I got away with so much innuendo in that Weiss article, and no one even mentioned it. Wow. wikigal has a lot of cleaning up to do regarding the Queen's English and weasltalk...
Weiss
I have been scrounging and researching like crazy. I can't find ANYTHING to substantiate my Weiss article other than one simple fact: Weiss did indeed work with Epstein to arrange the Beatles' first tour to America. THAT is well-documented in just about every comprehensive Beatles history book, and I feel that ONE sentence should be included. I found one of the original cablegrams on the web as a link (not that it's a substantive link, but it does prove the point). As for the rest of the Weiss stub, I have reviewed the Wikipedia guidelines for "weaselism" phrases and I flunked. The Weiss stub is riddled with innuendo and I can't go back and trace anything to its source, or prove it. I KNOW it but I CAN'T DOCUMENT IT!! Ergo: I am formally requesting that the Weiss article be voted for deletion - again. This time: Do it. Whatever the previous argument was for keeping it, the fact is - the article stinks. It simply cannot stand on its own. allie 23:40, 2 Jan 2005 (UTC)
My Bonnie
The story about Epstein being asked for copies of "My Bonnie" is misinformation. It was first written in Epstein's autobiography, A Cellarful of Noise, which was in fact ghostwritten. The story is simply not true. - 211.28.79.52 10:55, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
This is a mess
We have a large, unloved article here, and a very long History section in The Beatles. Please go to Talk:The_Beatles#History to debate this issue. --kingboyk 19:26, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- ... and much of it reads like a personal essay. --kingboyk 14:17, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Early years
Just reading this first section I've noticed there's no mention of how they got their distinctive hairslyles (from Stu's girlfriend Astrid), no mention of Astrid, of Klaus Voorman, etc. That's jsut from the Hamburg years. When I get hold of my books I can do a bit of a re-write, but that won't be for ages yet.
Anyone else want to have a crack at it?
(It might also be worth noting that for a time they owned a pig that shit all over thier flat)--Crestville 22:51, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
They "got" their hairstyles from Jurgen Volmer, not Astrid Kirchherr. Vera, Chuck & Dave 23:10, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- I heartily apologise. Still not in the article though is it? Ahhh.--Crestville 23:14, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- It is in - believe it or not - a seperate article: Beatle haircut. User:Setanta747 provisionally assessed that article as a "merge" candidate, I countered "leave it be", we didn't get any further (but will hopefully return to article assessments soon). In the meantime, feel free to choose between linking to it or merging it. --kingboyk 11:14, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Ha ha, well I never. I'll have a look, but at the very least it should be linked.--Crestville 12:53, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- It's actually quite a nice article, compared to some of the crud we have to clean up it's a diamond. --kingboyk 13:05, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- I agree, but I think some mention of its Hamburg origin (whether it be credited to Astrid or
Jurgan - there are sources for both) neeed to be included in this article. Like, after Paul and John and Stu had it done, Pete and George almost quit the band in disgust (I think).--Crestville 13:10, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- "I was combing my hair forward as an act against the bourgeois horrors in Hamburg. The barbers here always cut it too short, so I cut my own hair, but I never did anyone else's. So when John and Paul came to Paris I gave them this haircut. It was their idea to have it the same as mine." Jurgen Volmer 1961. The Beatles off The Record P.34 Vera, Chuck & Dave 13:36, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- As I say, there are sources for both.--Crestville 14:43, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
HI, May I enquire what the other sourse is? Vera, Chuck & Dave 14:50, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- Of course you may, but I don't want to get into an argument, man. Just trying to help the page. As it happens I'm pretty sure I read that in "shout" (Phillip Norman) and "the definative lennon biography" (Ray Coleman). Even if I'm wrong, I still think the haircut/hamburg stuff belongs in this article.--Crestville 14:54, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
What makes you think I want an argument? Just trying to do the same as you. Vera, Chuck & Dave 15:27, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, I thought you was trying to be snotty/confrontational. My mistake.--Crestville 15:55, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- No problem. Vera, Chuck & Dave 19:29, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
The history of a two-way mirror
This page isn´t in the "see also" section on The Beatles page, and why do I get the feeling that it´s almost the same as the other one? Can someone explain to a clod-hopper like me what the basic difference is? Reading it is like living in both sides of a semi-detached house.

- See that thread in big bold letters at the top of this page?! :) The future of this article?
- I must confess that I haven't reviewed this particular article in a while, but if it's almost one and the same as the History section in The Beatles then it might be nearly time to replace this with a redirect, or to trim The Beatles history section radically and send readers here instead. --kingboyk 12:45, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- No, I didn´t see it! That´s why I put the comment in. I never look at the first few comments of the talk page because I have read them before. New messages are put at the bottom of the page, are they not? It´s like reading through the whole of the newspaper when you really want the sports section. andreasegde 08:44, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
