Live Era '87–'93

Live Era: '87-'93 is a live album by American hard rock band Guns N' Roses. It was released in 1999 after most of the original members of the band had either left or been fired. The dates and locations of the tracks are not listed in the liner notes, although the majority of the tracks on the two CDs were recorded during the Use Your Illusion Tour of 1991-1993. Frontman Axl Rose re-recorded portions of vocals for most of the songs shortly before its release in 1999, as did former band member Slash with some lead guitar parts. Some hardcore fans are disappointed with the album, feeling that it hasn't got a live feel to it. While others feel that it acts as a second Greatest Hits album.
An interesting aspect of the album is the fact that Matt Sorum and Gilby Clarke, who were both members of the band from 1990-1994, are listed as "additional musicians" in the liner notes and not as actual members of the band. This is partly due to Matt Sorum and Axl Rose having had a major argument before the album's release.
The versions of "November Rain", "Pretty Tied Up" and "Don't Cry" were taken from the band's 1992 Tokyo show and can be seen on the video Use Your Illusion I.
The versions of "Move to the City", "You Could Be Mine" and "Estranged" were taken from the same concert and can be seen on the video Use Your Illusion II. "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" is taken from The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert.
An interesting fact is two of their most popular songs "Live And Let Die" and "Civil War" are omitted from this release.
