Template:In-progress tvshow Gougou Sentai Boukenger (轟轟戦隊ボウケンジャー, Gōgō Sentai Bōkenjā), translated as Rumbling Squadron Boukenger (a play on the Japanese word 冒険者 (Boukensha), which means "adventurer" and a combination of "Bouken" (冒険; "Adventure") and "Ranger"), is a Japanese tokusatsu television series. The series is produced by Toei, and is the 30th installment in their Super Sentai series. It premiered on February 19th, 2006 at 7:30 AM on tv asahi. Footage from this show will be used for the 2007 installment of Power Rangers, Power Rangers: Operation Overdrive.

The primary themes of the series are adventures and treasure hunting.

Plot summary

"There are people beginning a trip on adventures throughout life. Advancing adventurers surmounting every obstacle for the sake of protecting hazardous treasures that secretly rest."

The Search Guard Successor (S.G.S.) Foundation (サージェス財団, Sājesu Zaidan) collects hidden treasures that have suddenly begun to disappear all over the world. Treasures such as relics from early civilizations, sunken ships, unexplored regions, and fossils of animals long gone. Relics called "Precious" have been found, which have a great and dangerous power. The S.G.S. discovered these Precious and organized a secret team to defend them from those who wish to use the relics' powers.

  • Satoru Akashi (明石 暁 Akashi Satoru) / BoukenRed (ボウケンレッド BōkenReddo): Chief. Fiery Adventurer (熱き冒険者 Atsuki Bōkensha). Once an enthusiastic treasure-hunter, the tragic deaths of his partners Kyouko and Masaki in a blaze trap made him retire, only to be hired by SGS. With a calm exterior, Satoru actually hides hot blood inside, as evidenced when he simply catapulted Masumi and Natsuki into the Go Go Dump's bucket and carried them and an entire tub of dirt and gravel at full throttle out of the Gordom temple before dumping the entire load upon coming to a full stop. He says "Attack!" and simultaneously snaps his finger at the end of each order he gives to the others. He refers to the other Boukengers by their respective colors, something that Masumi has a thing against. He became filled with self-doubt in Task 4 after Go Go Vehicles 1~5 were buried under ice in a deep crevasse, the resulting suffering of his teammates sparked his memories of Kyouko and Masaki. It took his mighty willpower for him to control the overload-prone Go Go Drill and prevent history from repeating itself. Satoru used to be a huge fan of Jimon Kagawa's writings about heroes. He is a constant rival of Ryuuwon and took Ragi, a human whom Ryuuwon had transformed into a Wicked Dragon, under his protection until Ragi's mentor, an elder named Magi, took him back to the City of Water. Satoru's father, Kouichi (虹一 Kōichi), will appear in the movie. Satoru was given the offer to quit the Boukengers and join SGS Rescue, but he refused, because he likes to have his own adventures. Instead, he gave Eiji the Go Go Changer.
    • Bouken Arm: Bouken Bo (ボウケンボー Bōken Bō), BoukenRed's tool (resembles a truck's leaf spring), can also transform into the Bouken Javelin (ボウケンジャベリン Bōken Jaberin) and can initiate the finisher "Red Zone Crash", rushing slash attack with the Bouken Javelin. He also has a finisher called "Twin Sword Slash" when the Survi-Blade and Bouken Javelin are used together. Another attack is "Javelin Crash", in which he converts the energy of the Go Go Dump's Parallel Engine into flame and slashes the enemy. "Bo" is Japanese for "rod."
  • Masumi Inou (伊能 真墨 Inō Masumi) / BoukenBlack (ボウケンブラック BōkenBurakku): Fast Adventurer (迅き冒険者 Hayaki Bōkensha). On the reverse side of society, he was able to adopt the title of a treasure hunter from his techniques of searching ruins and excavation, but he's not as good as Satoru. When he was younger, Yaiba of Darkness murdered his excavation group (the members of which were abusive in several ways), and Masumi has been in a pursuit of revenge ever since. He is a rookie member of the Boukenger team along with Natsuki (whom he first met when she had her leg trapped under a heavy rock that left her with amnesia). He acts as a brotherly figure towards her, but soon becomes visibly jealous when he notices that Natsuki is becoming more attached to Satoru and Souta. Masumi has a thing against being referred to by color by Satoru, whom he wants to refer to everyone by name, instead. In Task 1, after taking the Heart of Gordom, he briefly returns his Accellular to Satoru, who in turn threatened him to drop him into red-hot magma for it if he did not accept it again. Eventually, after Masumi's battle with Yaiba, he learns to trust Satoru, since Satoru had believed in him from the start. Even though Souta used to consider him to be a thief, Masumi sometimes calls him an "ex-spy." He refers to Sakura as "Sakura-neesan" (sister) and seems to admire her, yet he also fears her. Masumi is hot-tempered and tends to act irrationally, but he will never give up and will never run away from a fight. Unlike Souta, Masumi fights first and asks questions later. His rebellious nature and anti-hero persona tends to bring him some trouble, but his risky tactics make him a valuable asset to the team. He, as Yaiba had stated, suppresses darkness in his heart, but what may become of that will probably appear later in future episodes. He became infuriated when Nendo-gami mimicked his human form in Task 14; naturally, the fury did not die down until Nendo-gami was terminated. He has admitted his affection towards Natsuki. Masumi appears to have a disliking towards peas, as he is often seen removing them whenever he eats fried rice.
    • Bouken Arm: Radial Hammer (ラジアルハンマー Rajiaru Hanmā): BoukenBlack's tool (resembles a driveshaft and axle); his attack is called "Drift Crash", where he tosses his hammer like a boomerang. His other attacks are "Lightning Attack", where by spinning around his hammer in circles, he shoots lightning from it, and "Hammer Break", where he maximizes the power from the Go Go Formula's Parallel Engine and pulverizes the enemy.
  • Souta Mogami (最上 蒼太 Mogami Sōta) / BoukenBlue (ボウケンブルー BōkenBurū): High Adventurer (高き冒険者 Takaki Bōkensha). A former secret investigator. Called a "spy," he is the information expert of the team. He is also a specialist in personal computers and digital technology. He is a little cocky, as evidenced in Task 1 when he nearly ended up on the terminated list for touching a fake Heart of Gordom, something that Natsuki foresaw, and later, when he hurt his hand punching a Karth in the chest with full force (and discovered the healing factor that the Karths possess). He initially considered Masumi to be a thief (and Masumi sometimes calls him an "ex-spy"). Souta is always with a smile and his nature is gentle and polite. Souta's persona as a gentleman brings himself to a fault when he fights against beautiful women — he can't help but go easy on them, especially Shizuka of the Wind (whom he and Sakura fight frequently). Souta acts like a brotherly figure to Natsuki, and often considers her feelings even against Satoru's orders. He also has a catchphrase he constantly uses, which is "Sou sou Souta!" ("Sou sou Souta" is a pun off of "Sou sou sou da", which means "Yes, that's right.")
    • Bouken Arm: Blow Knuckle (ブロウナックル Burō Nakkuru), BoukenBlue's tool (resembles a jet turbine; in Task 1, Souta hurt his hand while punching a Karth with full force, so he has chosen to use this weapon more often); His attacks are "Hover Attack", where he punches the ground and launches himself into the air, then blast enemies with a strong wind gust, and "Knuckle Cannon", where he maximizes the power from the Go Go Gyro's Parallel Engine and blows his enemies away.
  • Natsuki Mamiya (間宮 菜月 Mamiya Natsuki) / BoukenYellow (ボウケンイエロー Bōken'Ierō): Strong Adventurer (強き冒険者 Tsuyoki Bōkensha). Natsuki is completely attached to Masumi and met him long ago, when she was trapped under a rock in some ruins. The weight of that rock left her with amnesia. Natsuki is a rookie member of the Boukenger team. She is very naïve, which makes her seem like an air-head and a ditz. In fact, she freaked out when they first formed DaiBouken, as she and Masumi had not finished their training yet. She often refers to herself in the third person. Apparently, she can see into the immediate future (her visions are in greyscale), as evidenced in Task 1 when she foresaw Souta being obliterated by a fake Heart of Gordom. Later, in Task 2, after a brief confrontation with a Jaryuu (which was interrupted by Souta and Sakura), Sakura scolded her, believing her to be part of the Negative Syndicate—in fact, Natsuki's feelings were hurt so badly that she briefly doubted her worthiness to the team and returned her Accellular to Masumi. It took the others to cheer her up and convince her to rejoin. Natsuki owns a bracelet that had stayed with her when Masumi found her. She believes that if someone recognizes it, they could be able to let her know who she really is. Because of the need to find out her true origin, Natsuki joined the Boukengers. However, in Task 14, she ceased to consider her past to be her top priority when Dark Shadow Tsukumogami Nendo-gami tried to falsify the past. So far, she is the only Boukenger without a rival. In Task 24, she controlled DaiBouken and Ultimate Daibouken by herself.
    • Bouken Arm: Bucket Scoopers (バケットスクーパー Baketto Sukūpā), BoukenYellow's tools (resemble bulldozer buckets); her attacks are "Scooper Punch", where her punch power is increased to the point she can break cliff walls, and "Scooper Phantom", where she maximizes the power of the Go Go Dozer's Parallel Engine and delivers an X-uppercut to the enemy.
  • Sakura Nishihori (西堀 さくら Nishihori Sakura) / BoukenPink (ボウケンピンク BōkenPinku): Deep Adventurer (深き冒険者 Fukaki Bōkensha). The sub-instructional person on the team, she was a former Self-Defense Force official, and she was raised as an elite of combat. She is also good at handling machines, shooting, and military arts. She is a little bossy, as seen in Task 1. She refers to Satoru as "Chief." Sakura is often seen as the serious, level-headed person in the group and barely ever smiles. She soon gets along with Natsuki and starts trusting her more, contrary to the beginning of the series where she threatened Natsuki with a sword, believing her to be part of the Negative Syndicate. Sakura is very loyal to SGS and keeps her feelings for Satoru to herself. She and Souta frequently fight Shizuka of the Wind.
    • Bouken Arm: Hydro Shooter (ハイドロシューター Haidoro Shūtā): BoukenPink's tool (resembles Go Go Marine); her attack are called "Aqua Shoot", where she shoots high-powered water shots, and "Shooter Hurricane", where she maximizes the power of the Go Go Marine's Parallel Engine and attacks her enemies with strengthened water pellets.
  • Eiji Takaoka (高丘 映士 Takaoka Eiji) / BoukenSilver (ボウケンシルバー BōkenShirubā): Dazzling Adventurer (眩き冒険者 Mabayuki Bōkensha). He is descendant of the Takaoka Clan, those most likely responsible for having sealed the Áshu Tribe - a race of 'demons,' in the World of Demons utilizing the "Mirror of Demons." He debuts in Task 17 "The Áshu's Mirror," as a monk-like warrior in pursuit of the Áshu Tribe, with a strange power. Aloof and somewhat arrogant, to Eiji, the world's Precious are of little value to him; all that concerns him is the Áshu Tribe. And it is this attitude that tends to rub others the wrong way, especially Masumi. Furthermore, Eiji's father Kando had history with the Áshu and was slain by Gai, which is the source of Eiji's aggression, as well as the fact his own mother Kei was an Áshu as well, making Eiji a han'you. Eiji at first wielded Kando's shakujo. It allowed him to perform the "Takaoka-Style Áshu Soul Destruction," which was effective on normal Áshu. But Gai, now a Quester (as is Rei), broke the shakujo with his hip and gunned the ornament into oblivion. As a result, Eiji's Áshu lineage surfaced and nearly overtook him until SGS created the SagaSniper for him along with a Go Go Changer allowing him to transform into BoukenSilver. Because his Accel Suit is connected to the new Neo-Parallel Engines, he is not affected by the Gordom Engine. Satoru told Eiji that the SagaSniper had the same power as his shakujo, but this was eventually revealed as a lie, since Satoru knew that Eiji's heart fought against and could control his Áshu side under his own power. When offered to be the Boukengers comrades he initially agreed, but when he remembered his father Kando he hesitated and ran away. After talking with Natsuki and seeing his mother's tear, he realized his place and joined the Boukengers officially, joining the SGS Rescue division, receiving his silver jacket. His rivals are the Áshu Tribe, specifically the two Questers.
    • Bouken Arm: Sagasniper (サガスナイパー Sagasunaipā), BoukenSilver's weapon. It has three modes: Sagasniper for ranged combat, Sagaspear (サガスピア Sagasupia) for melée combat, and the metal detector-like Sagasu Mode (サガスモード Sagasu Mōdo); BoukenSilver turns a cylinder on the neck of the Sagaspear, a red light near the sensor blinks three times, and the Sagaspear itself says "Search Start"; when BoukenSilver pulls the trigger, a buzzing noise beeps from the sensor, and when the sensor hits metal, the red light shines, an alarm sounds, and the Sagaspear yells "Hit!", and BoukenSilver yells "Lock On!" when he is about to revert to Sniper Mode; "Sagasu" (探す; 捜す) means "to search for"). The weapon has two attacks: "Sagastrike" (Sagasniper) and "Sagaslash" (Sagaspear). Another attack is "Sniper Gatling", where he maximizes the power of the Go Go Fire's Neo Parallel Engine and delivers a rapid-fire assault on the enemy.

Other SGS Members

  • Mister Voice (ミスター・ボイス Misutā Boisu): In charge of the Boukengers. Heard only by voice. He appears to the Boukengers (via a 3-piece computer screen in the SGS base) as a computer-generated white (though he does turn red when infuriated and has a spikier crown), cone-shaped, moustached face with two stick-like arms. Mr. Voice reveals missions to the Boukenger team, while the team can also contact him for support (a trait reminiscent of Charlie in Charlie's Angels). His true age and identity are unknown. Mr. Voice is probably a reference to the 30th anniversary, as he is voiced by the narrator of all the previous anniversary Sentai series (Changeman, TurboRanger, and OhRanger), as well as the original GoRanger.
  • Morio Makino (牧野 森男 Makino Morio): In charge of the mechanical side of things for the Boukenger. Adjacent to the mecha hangar is his "Makino Workshop," where equipment and weapons are held and developed. His dream is to prove the existence of the mystical island of Atlantis. As observed from his frequent comments of equipment not being tested, he is a systematic person. He stayed up three days straight while working on Go Go Jet, which required Masumi and Natsuki to force him to get some sleep. However, he woke up just in time to inform Satoru of Go Go Jet's completion and Ultimate DaiBouken in the battle against Naga.

Non-SGS Allies

  • Kyoko (キョウコ Kyōko) (4): One of Satoru's ex-partners who went on an expedition with him years ago. While searching for a Precious, Satoru accidentally set off a trap which created a ring of fire that neither she nor Masaki could escape and Satoru could not reach them. Satoru swore to get help and rescue them, but the trap triggered an explosion, killing Kyoko and Masaki before Satoru could even leave to find help.
  • Shirou Masaki (柾木 紫郎 Masaki Shirō) (4, 18): One of Satoru's ex-partners who went on an expedition with him years ago. While searching for a Precious, Satoru accidentally set off a trap which created a ring of fire that neither he nor Kyoko could escape and Satoru could not reach them. Satoru swore to get help and rescue them, but the trap triggered an explosion, killing Kyoko and Masaki before Satoru could even leave to find help. Later on, Rei tricked Satoru into believing that Gai was Masaki, still alive, so he could shoot him with the Fighter's Crossbow. Eventually Satoru saw through the illusion and went on.
  • Selene the Burglar (怪盗セレネー Kaitō Serenē) (13): She had been seeking the treasures from the Bamboo Cutter's story. She had all but one when she ran into Souta, who later returned to protect her against Jakuryuu Lindorm. It was shown in the end that Selene could have been Princess Kaguya herself.
  • Ragi (ラギ Ragi) (15-16): Magi's apprentice. Once a human, he sacrificed his humanity in order to survive without water and was transformed into a Wicked Dragon by Ryuuwon, who dispatched him to find the Aqua Crystal. He could not regain his composure until Satoru took him under his protection. Eventually, Ragi was able to free the Aqua Cystal from a volcano and his transformation paid off. After Narga was terminated by Ultimate Daibouken, Ragi put the Aqua Crystal in its rightful place and returned to the City of Water, but, like his people, needs a special crystal on his tiara in order to even step into the sea waters and Satoru gave him a new crystal after Ryuuwon crushed the original.
  • Magi (マギ Magi) (15-16): An elder from the City of Water who did not want to see any more of his people perish in the search for the Aqua Crystal. Turned Ragi's section of the Crystal Document into water, but Satoru remembered it from earlier and helped Ragi find the Crystal. Ragi and Magi were reunited as the ocean returned.
  • Kando Takaoka (高丘 漢人 Takaoka Kando) (19-20): Eiji's father. While he was fighting Gai, Gai told a young Eiji that he was part Áshu and his mother was one of them. When Eiji's Áshu side came loose, Kando tried to calm Eiji down by embracing him, however Gai used this moment to slash him in the back. With his last breath he bestowed upon Eiji his shakujo so he could fight the Áshu.
  • Yuji Toba (鳥羽 祐二 Toba Yūji) (23): Souta's ex-partner from his times as a spy. Kidnapped Souta in order to know the place where SGS kept the secured Precious. It's later revealed that he actually was hired by the Questers and Rei would forcefully extract from Souta's memory the location of the building so they could steal the Precious and Toba would receive The Pearl of the Empire (Task 5) as payment. However, when the Questers finally locate the building and try to break into it with the Quester Robo Turbo, Toba detonated a bomb he installed in the cockpit previously, giving Siren Builder and Ultimate Daibouken the chance to destroy the robot.

Arsenal

The Boukengers' helmets have headlights over the visor. The switch is on the side. The top of the switch affects the left turn signal, while the bottom affects the right. In addition to providing illumination, they can counter the effects of hypnotism.

  • Accellular (アクセルラー Akuserurā): The Boukenger's changing device is a cell phone-like item that is held in a special Accellular Holder worn on the upper left arm and doubles as a blacklight and scanning device, which can be used for things such as identifying how hazardous an object is. In Task 1, Masumi briefly returned his to Satoru, who in turn threatened to drop him into orange-hot magma for it. In Task 2, Natsuki returns her Accellular briefly after doubting her abilities to be a Boukenger. Number keys 0-9 correspond to a certain Go Go Vehicle. As demonstrated in Task 4 (Masumi placed a pair of round-lens glasses on a sleeping Satoru for the demonstration), they are also camera-phones. Apparently, they do not run low on batteries and need no recharging. They will not malfunction, unlike the SP Licenses from Dekaranger, and under normal circumstances, cannot be broken, except for situations under which the suits receive extreme damage. Both the Henshin Command and any Go Go Vehicle-related commands are executed by hitting the appropriate button, then striking the 'GouGou Turbine' (small wheel-like part of the Accellular) against an object, usually either by spinning it with one's hand or striking it against the user's left arm. [This is not always the case though, in one episode Souta ran and held the Gougou Turbine against the railing of a bridge to start the henshin sequence, a tied-up Sakura ran it against her hip, Natsuki did the same in a similar situation, Masumi, Souta, Natsuki, and Sakura ran the Turbines against some Jaryuu, Satoru has once struck it up against the side of a tree and on the blade of one of Ryuuwon's swords, and Masumi pushed the henshin button of Eiji's Go Go Changer with the Turbine and then pushed off with it in order to activate the henshin sequence. Satoru also once struck the Turbine against concrete pavement in order to summon the Go Go Vehicles while he held the Bouken Bo in his other hand].
    • 1: Go Go Dump (start here for Trailer Formation, Bouken Formation "1", Super Formation, and Ultimate Formation)
    • 2: Go Go Formula
    • 3: Go Go Gyro (stop here for Trailer Formation)
    • 4: Go Go Dozer
    • 5: Go Go Marine (Diver) (stop here for Bouken Formation "1")
    • 6: Go Go Drill (start here for Bouken Formation 2)
    • 7: Go Go Shovel
    • 8: Go Go Mixer
    • 9: Go Go Crane (stop here for Super Formation)
    • 0: Go Go Jet (stop here from 1 for Ultimate Formation or from 6 for Bouken Formation 2)
    • GO!: Launches chosen Go Go Vehicle(s) (Launch Shift/発進シフト Hasshin Shifuto)
    • Robot: Combines chosen Go Go Vehicles into a certain formation (Combination Shift/合体シフト Gattai Shifuto)
    • Sun: Activates AccelSuits and transforms each hero into their Boukenger form. The henshin call is "Boukenger… START UP!" (although just saying "START UP!" will suffice). The Boukengers have been known to shout "Ready!" before performing the chant.
    • Transmission: Call
    • Light: Blacklight
    • Gougou Turbine: Enter
    • Camera: Button at the back. Masumi used this to play a prank on Satoru while he was asleep (and having a nightmare about his deceased friends, Masaki and Kyouko).
  • Go Go Changer (ゴーゴーチェンジャー Gō Gō Chenjā): BoukenSilver's henshin brace. Eiji shouts the henshin call "GouGouChanger, START UP!" when using it. Like the Accellulars, the GouGouChanger can summon Go Go Vehicles 1~10, but BoukenSilver can also summon 11~13. Since it is too small for numbered buttons (only having Launch and Combination Shift buttons), it has an LCD which displays the number of a particular Go Go Vehicle. BoukenSilver turns a dial to a particular number (the selection process always starts with No. 11~13), and then presses the button inside the dial to summon or combine. According to the toy, Go Go Vehicles must be launched one at a time. Accordingly, Go Go Vehicles 4~10, which can combine with Go Go Fire, must be combined one at a time.
    • 11: Go Go Fire ("Fire! Go! Go!")
    • 12: Go Go Aider ("Aider! Go! Go!")
    • 13: Go Go Police ("Police! Go! Go!"/"Siren Formation!")

    • 09: Go Go Crane ("Crane! Go! Go!"/"Crane! Power On!")
    • 10: Go Go Jet ("Jet! Go! Go!"/"Jet! Power On!")
    • Enter: Transform and Go Go Vehicle-related commands
    • Dail: Select Go Go Vehicle
    • Robot: Combination Shift
    • GO!: Launch Shift
  • Survi-Busters (サバイバスター Sabaibasutā): Standard firearm weapon, which can be changed into sword weapons known as Survi-Blades (サバイブレード Sabaiburēdo). They also have Scope Shots (スコープショット Sukōpu Shotto), which can fire grappling hooks, magnets, emergency flares, a small parachute, and metallic BoukenChips (ボウケンチップ Bōken Chippu; these chips can contain messages which the Boukengers can only see with the Accellular Search Mode's blacklight) and serve as telescopes. The Scope Shot can combine with the Survi-Buster to form the Survi-Buster Sniper Mode (サバイバスター・スナイパーモード Sabaibasutā Sunaipā Mōdo), the finisher with this weapon is the Climax Shoot, first used on Tsukumogami Jougami.
  • Accel Tector (アクセルテクター Akuseru Tekutā): Special armor worn by the Boukenger. The Tector is a small, blue, saucer-shaped dome with the Boukenger "Compass" on the front. By placing the "Scale of the Salamander" inside of it, a special body armor activates on the wearer's chest. It was used mainly by BoukenRed at first, but from Task 12 onwards, the other four also wore it to finish off the enemy. The Combination Crash is only effective if all members are present.
  • Dual Crusher (デュアルクラッシャー Dyuaru Kurashā): A weapon used in conjunction with the Accel Tector. The Dual Crusher has two heads:
    • Mixer Head (ミキサーヘッド Mikisā Heddo): Immobilizes target by encasing it in "Hyper Concrete" (ハイパーコンクリート Haipā Konkurīto).
    • Drill Head (ドリルヘッド Doriru Heddo): Penetrates immobilized target with drill (Combination Crash).

According to a recently released publicity sheet, the Boukengers get a Daikenjin Zubaan (大剣人ズバーン), which can transform into a Treasure Sword Mode (宝剣モード Hōken Mōdo). The legs become the blade, the arms become the hilt, the body becomes the handle (with the head as the knob), and the horizontal chest ornament becomes the vertical hilt ornament.

Go Go Vehicles

Each of the Go Go Vehicles (ゴーゴービークル, Gō Gō Bīkuru) can be controlled through BoukenDrivers (ボウケンドライバー BōkenDoraibā), carrying-case-like boxes which hold collapsible controls (a steering wheel and one joystick on each side).

  • Ultimate DaiBouken (究極轟轟合体アルティメットダイボウケン Arutimetto DaiBōken): Formed from Go Go Vehicles 1~10 (Ultimate Formation; アルティメットフォーメーション Arutimetto Fōmēshon). Attacks with "Variable Typhoon" and "Ultimate Blaster" (finisher). The cockpit of Go Go Jet covers the DaiBouken head completely.
    • Super DaiBouken (超轟轟合体スーパーダイボウケン Sūpā DaiBōken): When Go Go Vehicles 1~9 combine (Super Formation (スーパーフォーメーション Sūpā Fōmēshon)), this formation is created. The grappling hooks from Go Go Crane are worn as a helmet. Attacks with "Cannonball Headbutt" and "Double Arm Crash" (finisher). Can also fire Hyper Concrete ("Wall Shoot") to foil any attempt to ambush the Boukengers from behind.
      • DaiBouken/Go Go Trailer (轟轟合体ダイボウケン/ゴーゴートレーラー DaiBōken/Gō Gō Torērā): The combination of the five mainstream Go Go Vehicles (Bouken Formation/ボウケンフォーメーション Bōken Fōmēshon). Natsuki did freak out a bit during the first combination sequence during the fight with the Gordom God (as she and Masumi hadn't completed their training at the time). DaiBouken is armed with the Go Schoper (ゴースコッパー Gō Sukoppā), a shovel ("schop" is Dutch for shovel), and the Go Picker (ゴーピッカー Gō Pikkā), a pickaxe (the Japanese use "Pickel", the German word for "pickaxe"), that combine to form the Rumbling Sword (轟轟剣 Gōgō Ken). Its finishing move is called "Adventure Drive." A series of pistons on each leg allows DaiBouken to deliver a blow of any kind with greater force when activated. Its name in Japanese means "Great Adventure". The trailer code is "Trailer Formation" (トレーラーフォーメーション Torērā Fōmēshon), but so far this command has not been used, and the Go Go Trailer was only shown in the opening of the first episode. Its license plate reads: SGS BK-5050.
        • No. 1, Go Go Dump (ゴーゴーダンプ Gō Gō Danpu): Piloted by BoukenRed, who draws his power from this vehicles's Parallel Engine. The bucket splits into a pair of manipulator arms. Forms the head, body, and legs of DaiBouken, Super DaiBouken, and Ultimate DaiBouken, and the trailer unit of the Go Go Trailer.
        • No. 2, Go Go Formula (ゴーゴーフォーミュラ Gō Gō Fōmyura): Piloted by BoukenBlack, who draws his power from this vehicles Parallel Engine. The front bumper hides a missile launcher. Forms the chest of DaiBouken, the back of Super and Ultimate DaiBouken, and the wheels of the Go Go Trailer's tractor unit.
        • No. 3, Go Go Gyro (ゴーゴージャイロ Gō Gō Jairo): Piloted by BoukenBlue, who draws his power from this vehicle's Parallel Engine. The Go Go Gyro has cables which are strong enough to enable the Go Go Gyro to lift the Go Go Marine (Diver). In addition, the Gyro is actually two vehicles combined—the part that forms DaiBouken's helmet is an exploration vehicle called Met Lander (メットランダー Metto Randā). Forms DaiBouken's back and helmet, Super DaiBouken's "spine", Ultimate DaiBouken's abdominal area, and the cabin of the Go Go Trailer's tractor unit.
        • No. 4 Go Go Dozer (ゴーゴードーザー Gō Gō Dōzā): Piloted by BoukenYellow, who draws her power from this vehicle's Parallel Engine. The bucket is resilient enough to throw a daikaijuu off of its feet. Forms DaiBouken's right arm (but goes into the back of the left leg in a power up), goes into the right leg of Super and Ultimate DaiBouken, and goes on the right side of the Go Go Trailer's trailer unit.
        • No. 5 Go Go Marine (Diver) (ゴーゴーマリン(ダイバー) Gō Gō Marin (Daibā)): Piloted by BoukenPink, who draws her power from this vehicle's Parallel Engine. The Go Go Marine has a manipulator claw on each side. (NOTE: On the show, the vehicle is referred to as simply the "Go Go Marine", yet the toy labels the sub as the "Go Go Marine Diver"). Forms DaiBouken's left arm (but goes into the back of the right leg in a power up), goes into the left leg of Super and Ultimate DaiBouken, and goes on the left side of the Go Go Trailer's trailer unit.
      • DaiTanken (ダイタンケン DaiTanken; Great Expedition): The GouGou Gattai Machines are additional vehicles which can serve as power-ups for the main robots. The Parallel Engines of these mecha are stronger than those of Vehicles 1~5, which puts a strain on the core Boukengers. Two or more of these Machines can combine with DaiBouken and/or SirenBuilder. Vehicles 6~10 form DaiTanken, with which Go Go Dozer and Go Go Marine (Diver) can combine, according to the toy. DaiTanken's finisher is "Big Red Bomber".
        • No. 6: Go Go Drill (ゴーゴードリル Gō Gō Doriru): It has three spiral drills in its cone. All three rotate in the same direction as the cone. Go Go Drill makes a right arm and replaces Go Go Dozer to make DaiBouken Drill, which gains a finishing move known as "Maximum Penetration". Uses "Rising Penetration" when joined to DaiBouken in conjunction with Go Go Shovel (this combination is known as DaiBouken Drill and Shovel). Uses "Hind Break" when attached in conjunction with Go Go Mixer (known as DaiBouken Drill and Mixer). Uses "Lift-Up Strike" when attached in conjunction with Go Go Crane (known as DaiBouken Drill and Crane). Uses "Double Arm Liquid Bomber" when joined to SirenBuilder in conjunction with Go Go Shovel (known as Siren Builder Drill and Shovel). BoukenYellow usually pilots this machine, but it was first piloted by BoukenRed.
        • No. 7: Go Go Shovel (ゴーゴーショベル Gō Gō Shoberu): The shovel unit of this Go Go Machine is retractable. When not combined, it has an attack known as the Shovel Swing. It forms a left arm and attaches to DaiBouken in place of Go Go Marine, the shovel can be used in the "Shovel Defense" maneuver, and DaiBouken Shovel can use the finisher move "Shovel Knuckle". Uses "Rising Penetration" when joined to DaiBouken in conjunction with Go Go Drill (this combination is known as Daibouken Drill and Shovel). Uses "Double Arm Liquid Bomber" when joined to SirenBuilder in conjunction with Go Go Drill (known as SirenBuilder Drill and Shovel). BoukenPink usually pilots this machine.
        • No. 8: Go Go Mixer (ゴーゴーミキサー Gō Gō Mikisā): The mixer section opens up in thirds to reveal a cannon. Like any concrete mixer truck, this Go Go Machine must first be filled with water (collected during launch as it drives through a waterfall) and mineral aggregates (fed by DaiBouken with the GouSchoper). Used "Agitation Shoot" to immobilize mutiple BoukenBlue copies while uncombined. Used "Wall Shoot" to cover a burning warehouse (Wicked Evil Dragon Dryken was the culprit) in a layer of Hyper Concrete when attached to DaiBouken as a left arm in place of Go Go Marine (known as DaiBouken Mixer), and later as Super DaiBouken's right foot, to squander an ambush attempt by Gajah and Girad. Uses "Hind Break" when attached in conjunction with Go Go Drill (known as DaiBouken Drill and Mixer). Forms the right foot of Super and Ultimate DaiBouken and the lower right leg for DaiTanken. BoukenBlue usually pilots this machine.
        • No. 9: Go Go Crane (ゴーゴークレーン Gō Gō Kurēn): The boom is called the "Infinity Arm". Uses "Wire Hook Punch" when attached to DaiBouken as a left arm in place of Go Go Marine (known as DaiBouken Crane; this combination has yet to be used, but already has its own picture in the official tv asahi website), and "Lift-Up Strike" when attached in conjunction with Go Go Drill (known as DaiBouken Drill and Crane). Forms the left foot and helmet for Super DaiBouken, the left foot alone for Ultimate DaiBouken and the lower left leg and part of the body for DaiTanken. BoukenBlack usually pilots this machine.
        • No. 10: Go Go Jet (ゴーゴージェット Gō Gō Jetto): This one was under construction until Task 16. Unlike the other GouGou Gattai Machines, this one is behind closed doors until needed. Its wingspan is so long, that the wings fold upward so that it can fit into its hangar. It uses a rail to take off, much like the Jetscrander from Mazinger Z (parts of the combination sequence also resemble that of Mazinger Z with the Jetscrander). The cockpit of this mecha doubles as an exploration vehicle and the mecha itself is able to carry other GouGou Gattai Machines into action. Armed with "Ultimate Missiles", which can destroy Zorads. The wingtips have cannons, and Go Go Jet can also drop explosives like a military bomber. Combines with DaiBouken to form either DaiBouken Jet or DaiBouken Buster Mode (ダイボウケンバスターモード Daibōken Basutā Mōdo) or with SirenBuilder to form SirenBuilder Jet. Forms the helmet, wings, back and shield for Ultimate DaiBouken and the head, body, upper legs, and shield to DaiTanken. BoukenRed is assigned this machine.
  • SirenBuilder (緊急轟轟合体サイレンビルダー SairenBirudā): Commanded by BoukenSilver. Its finishing attacks are "Triple Liquid Bomber" and "Builder Crash". SirenBuilder has the ability to "Jack Up", which involves Go Go Fire's leg formation activating or deactivating at his command; this comes in handy for dodging attacks or jumping ("Jack Down"). When it fires from Aider and Police, an attack called "Knuckle Magnums" is activated. SirenBuilder is part of the "SGS Rescue Project", which involves aid and defense of civilians and the use of Precious for humanity's sake, according to Makino. When Fire, Aider, and Police combine, it is known as "Siren Formation" (サイレンフォーメーション Sairen Fōmēshon). According to the toy, SirenBuilder can also utilize Go Go Vehicles 4~10.
    • No. 11 Go Go Fire (ゴーゴーファイヤー Gō Gō Faiyā): Forms the head, torso, and legs of SirenBuilder. Designed like a western fire engine. This component is commanded by BoukenSilver. When the twin water cannons on its back are fired, it uses "Double Water Shoot", an attack which BoukenSilver can use either in Go Go Fire or SirenBuilder. BoukenSilver receives his power from this vehicle's Neo Parallel Engine, making him immune to the Gordom Engines that power the Questers.
    • No. 12 Go Go Aider (ゴーゴーエイダー Gō Gō Eidā): Forms a left arm. Designed like an ambulance. BoukenSilver can control it and Go Go Police remotely via the Go Go Changer. Can fly around. Armed with two blasters on the bumper (and more specifically, the areas which become SirenBuilder's left index and small fingers) which can fires bright red energy beams to attack. According to the Official Super Sentai Website, this Vehicle can also deliver medical supplies to the Danger Zone and carries its own emergency room.
    • No. 13 Go Go Police (ゴーゴーポリス Gō Gō Porisu): Forms a right arm. Designed like a police patrol car. BoukenSilver can control it and Go Go Aider remotely via the Go Go Changer. Can fly around like the Go Go Aider. The fender (the dorsal side of SirenBuilder's right hand) carries four "Police Vulcans" (two on each side) which fire a barrage of bright yellow energy bolts to attack.

In Task 22, Ultimate DaiBouken and SirenBuilder switched their arms around; Ultimate DaiBouken had Go Go Aider and Go Go Police for arms, and only SirenBuilder, now SirenBuilder Drill and Shovel, fought and terminated Tsukumogami Zukangami.

There have recently been press releases depicting Go Go Machines 14 through 18, as well as information on a "Tankenger" (translates as Expedition Ranger; rumored since the pre-BoukenSilver days) who may supply these vehicles to the Boukengers. The new vehicles can combine into either a fourth robot (14 [Red's vehicle] becomes the head, 15 [Black's] becomes the body and legs, 16 [Blue's] becomes the shoulders, 17 [Yellow's] becomes the chest, and 18 [Pink's] becomes the arms) which is supposedly taller than DaiBouken, or a trailer (15 forms the main body, 18 connects to the front, 16 goes on top of 15's cabin, 17 goes on top of 16, and 14 goes on the end) on which DaiBouken itself can ride.

There have also been rumors that there will be a mecha called BoukenHunter, comprised of Go Go Vehicles called Go Go Fighter, Go Go Tank, and Go Go Ship. Whether these vehicles are part of Go Go Vehicles 14-18 is also unknown at this time.

Negative Syndicate

Not much is known about Negative Syndicate (ネガティブシンジケート, Negatibu Shinjikēto) other that it consists of various organizations and all their respective leaders, foot soldiers, and monsters who try to steal the precious and use them for evil deeds. And there is some animosity between the member groups. They occasionally work together to serve their own ambitions.

Gordom Civilization

The Gordom Civilization (ゴードム文明, Gōdomu Bunmei) is a mysterious civilization that once ruled the sea with the Organs (the Heart and Brain) of Gordom (both Precious relics) as their underwater power source. They were sealed at the bottom of the ocean for 40,000 years by those who feared their power. However, it was due to Masumi & Natsuki that the seal was broken and the Gordom were released. The civilization, in addition to wielding mystic powers, also have technological know-how.

  • Arch Priest Gajah (大神官ガジャ Daishinkan Gaja): The leader of the Gordom. He was originally a stone corpse in a death-like sleep, until the seal was shattered. Apparently his left hand is still stone, and it can summon Karths from rocks. He wields a broad sword that can shoot out lightning. He typically seizes any power and chance available and uses it against the Boukengers. He and Ryuuwon are apparently rivals. He caught Souta, Natsumi and Sakura spying on the ceremony of Giant God Gordom's resurrection and sent the Karths after them. He briefly rode on the Gordom God's shoulder until he was forced off by blows from Go Go Formula's missiles after Go Go Dozer's bucket failed to do the trick. He witnessed the Gordom God's destruction and was consumed by Dold when it popped out from the sea. He was held captive by the Jaryuu since they wanted the Gordom relics. When the Boukengers interfered Gajah and Ryuuwon joined forces. Gayja betrayed Ryuuwon when the "Brain of Gordom" was found, but he fled when Ryuuwon defeated him, only to see Ryuuwon fall to his "death" at Satoru's hands. He eventually met up with Dark Shadow and offered his services, only to have Jougami demonstrate his power by destroying several Karths. He tormented the Boukengers again in Tasks 6, 8, 10, and 11, and appeared again in Task 9, releasing a man from his mind control after he received one of Nami Uemono's dolls. In Tasks 10 and 11 he teamed up with Ryuuwon again to use the map on the doll to find the treasure SGS was hiding, but was nearly killed by Super Daibouken terminated Girad. He survived the bout most likely through his teleporting ability and began to use the secrets of the Parallel Engines and the Boukengers' Accel Suits to construct the Anti-Parallel Engines called the Gordom Engines, which were used to revive the spirits of Rei and Gai, turning them into Questers. He used a third Gordom Engine to power Giant God Gagadom, which was stolen by the Questers.
  • Combatant Karths (戦闘員カース Sentōin Kāsu): These ash-colored stone beings are the footsoldiers for the Gordom Civilization. They wield torches that can change into sickles. They are summoned from stone. They have a noticeable healing factor, as Souta found out the hard way when he injured his hand punching one in the chest with full force. Fortunately, this healing factor cannot save them from those more powerful than they are. Both Dark Shadow and the Jaryuu tribe use Karths ocasionally.
  • Giant Gods (巨神 Kyoshin): These are the Gordom Civilization's giant war powers.
    • Giant God Gordom (巨神ゴードム Kyoshin Gōdomu) (1): The true form of the Gordom shrine once the Heart of Gordom was put in place, a colossal humanoid machine. It was destroyed by DaiBouken's Adventure Drive attack. The Heart of Gordom (clearly visible on the Gorgom God's chest unit) was later confiscated and placed into a containment box, and is currently in the custody of SGS.
    • Giant God Gagadom (巨神ガガドム Kyoshin Gagadomu) (20): Created by Gajah with a giant Gordom Engine. It was stolen from Gajah by Gai and Rei, who reffered to it as their "Quester Robo". Gagadom had the ability to combine its Gordom Engine power with Gai's and Rei's to create a powerful energy blast and to tunnel into the ground, as well as use the powerful Lightning Cannon. While Gai was fighting off the Rangers, Rei retrieved the Lightning Cannon with Gagadom by burying deep into the Earth. Gagadom easily defeated DaiBouken and the individual Go Go Vehicles, as well as set fire to the city, however BoukenSilver put the fire out. Gagadom was destroyed by BoukenSilver's newly-formed SirenBuilder's Triple Liquid Bomber attack.

Jaryuu Clan

The Jaryuu Clan (ジャリュウ一族, Jaryū Ichizoku) is a race of reptilian-humanoids, the result of genetic manipulation of Dinosaur DNA. They are bent on reverting the earth to the age of the dinosaurs, exterminating all of humanity, and ruling the world with the power that the "Precious" provide, because they believe that, with their dinosaur genes, they are the true heirs of Earth. But, according to Souta, they are not very smart. A Jaryuu can go for eternity without water. Their name translates into "Evil Dragon".

  • Creator King Ryuuwon (創造王リュウオーン Sōzōō Ryūōn): The Chieftain and creator of the Jaryuu. He wields two swords. He and Gajah don't get along. After Doldo ate Gajah, Ryuuwon held Gajah captive. When the Boukengers intervened in Ryuuwon's search for the "Brain of Gordom", he and Gajah joined forces. When they found the Brain, Gajah betrayed Ryuuwon by sealing him in stone, but Ryuuwon freed himself and defeated Gajah. When he was about to claim his prize, BoukenRed intervened and defeated him in battle and Ryuuwon fell off the cliff. He apparently did not survive the fall (with Gajah as witness). Fortunately for him, Ryuuwon has a miraclous healing factor, allowing him to evade permanent death with his regenerative abilities (and it could be that it has allowed him to lived longer than he would without it). He fought Satoru, and reappeared later when he was in the middle of a ritual creating Wicked Dragons and attempting to steal the Scale of the Salamander. In Task 10 and 11 he teamed up with Gajah to find the treasure of the Karamonoya Namiemon dolls, however he was apparently destroyed when Super Daibouken terminated Zard, however Ryuuwon returned to cause more mischief for the Boukengers when he decided to go after the legendary treasures of Princess Kaguya. In another ocasion he manipulated Ragi and transformed him into a Wicked Dragon in order to obtain the Aqua Crystal. However his plans failed when the Boukengers put Ragi under their protection and killed Naga, and helped Ragi use the Crystal to restore his civilization.
  • Dragonoid Soldier Jaryuu (竜人兵ジャリュウ Ryūjinhei Jaryū): The dragon-like warriors created by Ryuuwon. They wield swords and can summon hundreds of lizards from their bodies. They are fewer in number when compaired to the Karths, but more powerful. They are also capable of speech. Three piloted Doldo before its destruction and all perished along with Doldo. In Task 21, with the Mallet of Luck, Ryuuon made three of them grow to giant size. When the Boukengers formed Ultimate DaiBouken, he made them grow again, making them even larger (About the size of Mahou Sentai Magiranger's Meemy). However, Eiji reclaimed the Mallet for himself, and made Ultimate DaiBouken grow in size to even the odds. Ulitmate DaiBouken's Ultimate Blaster finished two of the Jaryuus, and SirenBuilder, still the same size as normal, jumped down the third's throat and finished it off from the inside.
  • Great Evil Dragons (大邪竜 Daijaryū) These are the Jaryuu Clan's giant monsters: cybernetic, genetically altered dinosaurs which must be piloted from within. Interestingly, they have the kind of steering wheel that one would find in a nautical ship, and the cockpit of most Great Evil Dragons is also a throne room for Ryuuwon.
    • Great Evil Dragon Dold (大邪竜ドルド Daijaryū Dorudo) (1-2): This one swallowed Gajah after the Gordom God was destroyed. It was created by Ryuuwon and manned by three Jaryuu. When Doldo was defeated by DaiBouken's Adventure Drive, Ryuuwon activated a bomb on Doldo to blow up DaiBouken and kill the Boukengers, but the team kicked Doldo away before he blew up, taking all three Jaryuu with him.
    • Great Evil Dragon Zard (大邪竜ザルド Daijaryū Zarudo) (10-11): Ryuuwon was onboard this power type dragon twice. It has immense strength and can firing gatling gun blasts and chains that can wrap around the enemy. The first time, where he simply rode and Zard was piloted by a Jaryuu, he and Gajah defeated Daibouken. The second time, Ryuuwon personally piloted Zard himself, but Zard was terminated by Super Daibouken, nearly taking Ryuuwon with it. Zard's name is a pun on Lizard.
    • Great Evil Dragon Girad (大邪竜ギラド Daijaryū Girado) (10-11): An incredibly agile dragon that wields a boomerang. The first time that this speed type dragon appeared, it was manned by three Jaryuu, and both Zard and Girad managed to defeat Daibouken. The second time, Gajah personally piloted Girad. However, Super Daibouken "Wall Shot" Girad's feet to the ground with Hyper Concrete (in order to squander Gajah's ambush attempt, the steering wheel was immobilized as a consequence) and terminated Girad himself, almost claiming Gajah's life.
    • Great Evil Dragon Zorad (大邪竜ゾラド Daijaryū Zorado) (16): These are pterosaur-like Great Evil Dragons created by Ryuuwon for aerial combat (indeed, they're brought to life via CGI recycled from Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger's Bakuryuu Pteranodon). The cabin has room for just one Jaryuu: the pilot. Three of them were involved in the Go Go Jet's first dogfight and were soundly destroyed; Satoru even used the sun to blind the pilots of the remaining two. Their name is a pun on "sora" (空), the Japanese word for "sky".
  • Wicked Dragons (邪悪竜 Jaakuryū) These are the Jaryuu Clan's human-sized monsters. They usually grow giant when Ryuuwon fires a special arrow from his crossbow, but there has been an exception. They are created when Jaryuu battle each other until only one is left standing and as a prize Ryuuwon transforms the survivor into a Wicked Dragon.
    • Wicked Dragon Dryken (邪悪竜ドライケン Jaakuryū Doraiken) (7.24): Ryuuwon sent this first Wicked Dragon to find the Scale of the Salamander. Ryuuwon attempted to transform Dryken into an all-powerful dragon by using the Scale of the Salamander and by increasing the temperature of the factory that they were in to two thousand degrees, which set the building aflame, but Daibouken Mixer used the Wall Shoot technique to contain the explosion in Hyper Concrete. Dryken himself ultimately fell victim to the Scale's power when Satoru used it to activate the Accel Tector for the first time and used the Dual Crusher Mixer Head to encase Dryken in Hyper Concrete and used the Drill Head to drill him into oblivion.
    • Wicked Dragon Lindom (邪悪竜リンドム Jaakuryū Rindomu) (13): Ryuuwon sent dispatched this one to find the Angel's Raiment of the Moon and the Medicine of Immortality—the Treasures of Princess Kaguya. He was defeated by the Dual Crusher (used by BoukenBlue), but grew giant when he fell into the Medicine. From then, he was terminated by Super Daibouken after giving a thrashing to normal DaiBouken.
    • Wicked Dragon Naga (邪悪竜ナーガ Jaakuryū Nāga) (15-16): This one was dispatched with Ragi by Ryuuwon to attack the Boukengers and to find the Aqua Crystal, and his onslaught has become personal as Satoru took Ragi under his protection, since Ryuuwon ordered him to dispose of Ragi after he failed to obtain the Crystal Document. He was defeated by the Dual Crusher Drill Head (wielded by BoukenBlack) only to be the first to be giganticized by Ryuuwon, and terminated by Ultimate Daibouken after giving Super DaiBouken a thrashing.

Dark Shadow

Dark Shadow (ダークシャドウ, Dāku Shadō) is a stealth assassin-group descended from ninjas, experts in espionage that work to obtain the Precious for the highest bidder.

  • Gekkou of Illusion (幻のゲッコウ Maboroshi no Gekkou; Eclipse of Illusion): The owl-like leader of Dark Shadow. He has the ability to create and enlarge Tsukumogami with sutras. He can also speak through the sutras as if they were hand radios. He has an enormous amount of wisdom. Although first hesitant on using the Karths that Gaja offered, he eventually accepted the proposal to use them against the Boukenger.
  • Yaiba of Darkness (闇のヤイバ Yami no Yaiba; Sword of Darkness): Nicknamed "The Paper Crane Ninja". Armored warrior who uses two ninja swords that can be combined into a double bladed naginata, as well as summoning a hail of deadly origami cranes in red, blue, yellow, and green, and has a godlike healing factor. Yaiba apparently has a terrifying monster-like face behind his helmet. He attacked and slew Masumi's abusive excavation group when Masumi himself was little, and since then, Masumi has been plotting a venomous revenge. Yaiba also revealed to Masumi that he let him live because he, Yaiba, sensed darkness in Masumi.
  • Shizuka of Wind (風のシズカ Kaze no Shizuka; Silence of Wind): A kunoichi who fights with a pair of kunai. She often refers to herself in third person, like Natsuki. She is very childish and inept but also violent and deceiving and most of the time undergoes disguises to find any Precious, but the Boukengers can see through her disguises. She is the spokesperson of the Dark Shadow Company and often embarks in meetings to obtain Precious from clueless corporations, as well as sellling them. Souta and Sakura fight her frequently.
  • Tsukumogami (ツクモガミ Tsukumogami): The Dark Shadow's monsters created by Gekkou from something old and something new with the use of sutras.
    • Jou-gami (ジョウガミ Jōgami) (3, 24): Created from an antique lock and new data disks to support Shizuka in retrieving the Three Blades of National Leadership. He could walk through portals that he made in walls and hack through computers. He wielded a sword made from a combination of two of the Blades. He was defeated by the Boukengers' Climax Shoot, tried but failed to squash an engineer who had deceived him and Shizuka with a fake (which had the auctioneer's mug shot on it), lost the advantage after Daibouken used the Gougou Sword—powered by the third sword (the engineer wore it around his waist and threw it as hard as he could into Daibouken's hand)—to split his own sword, and was ultimately terminated by Daibouken's Adventure Drive, all in the Boukengers' first nighttime battle. Jou (錠) means a lock in Japanese.
    • Takumi-gami (タクミガミ Takumigami) (5, 24): Created from an old arquebus and a new factory to find the Imperial Pearl (which fell into the hands of a young boy for a time) and became Takumi-gami Biopanzer until he was debilitated by the Go Go Shovel's Shovel Swing and terminated by DaiBouken Shovel's Shovel Knuckle. Takumi (匠) means a craftsman in Japanese.
    • Kawazu-gami (カワズガミ Kawazugami) (9): Created from an old purse and a new vacuum cleaner. Has the ability of Cyclone suction to absorb objects and save them in money pouches; After being defeated by the Dual Crusher Combination Crash (used by Bouken Red) and being restored, he gobbled part of an elderly woman's house (taking the woman herself), but Masumi used the Go Go Crane (with assistance from DaiBouken, which forced Kawazu-gami's huge mouth wide open) to free the hostage (and the part of her house that he swallowed). Kawazu-gami was subsequently terminated by Daibouken Drill and Crane's Lift-Up Strike. Kawazu (蛙) means a toad in Japanese — a purse is compared to a toad's mouth (がま口 gamaguchi) in Japan.
    • Kanade-gami (カナデガミ Kanadegami) (12, 24): Created from an antique firestove bellow and a new speaker and sent to retrieve the Pipes of Hamelin, he even used the silver one to make Masumi, Souta, and Natsuki fight Satoru and Sakura, but this was soon reversed. He used the pipe to transform children into a power source that would create an enormously powerful precious, but the chidren were saved by Sakura and Natsuki. Defeated by the Dual Crusher (wielded by BoukenPink) and terminated by Super DaiBouken. "Kanade" (Kanaderu 奏でる) means "to play a sound" in Japanese.
    • Nendo-gami (ネンドガミ Nendogami) (14, 24): Created from old dark clay and a new camera. Able to change his own figure freely like clay, create grenades from his clay, with his camera arm able to change memories and dreams in people's minds, as well as able to change existence itself. He was disguised as Natsuki's younger sister "Miria" (although it is not known whether there is such a person), and planted fake memory in Natsuki, as well as giving her a braclet exactly like her own, which turned out to be a mind controlling device. Natsuki, who was deceived, pounced on Masumi and the other Boukengers. It was only Masumi admiting his love for Natsuki and the destroying of the braclet that freed her. After being defeated by the Dual Crusher (used by BoukenYellow), the giant Nendo-gami tried to avoid being terminated by Super DaiBouken by taking Masumi's human form, thinking that because he looked like Masumi, the Boukengers wouldn't attack him, but this desperate act was in vain. Natsuki wasn't fooled, as she instantly realized that Masumi was sitting right next to her, and was not normally over 30 stories tall. Nendo (粘土) means clay in Japanese. Nendo-gami bears a striking resemblance to FūraiMaru from Hurricanger.
    • Zukan-gami (ズカンガミ Zukangami) (22, 24): Created from an old silk top hat and a new animal pictorial book. Can turn people into the animal it chooses from the book on it's chest. Shizuka and Zukan-gami intended to turn selected humans into animals and by means of Solomon's Ring control them all, thereby creating a special Dark Shadow team of intelligent animals to find the world's Precious. It could also summon a rope, or a snake that turns into chains, to bind its opponents, throw exploding trump cards, copy the Dual Crusher (though it didn't get a chance to actually fire it), and was able to reflect SirenBuilder's "Triple Liquid Bomber," after juggling it on an umbrella. Turned Satoru, Masumi and Natsuki into a telescope goldfish, a dog and a yellow budgerigar respectively. Zukan (図鑑) means Pictorial book in Japanese. His final attack is the Zukangami Saber Cutter, which is a direct reference to the Megaranger's Galaxy Mega's finishing move.
    • Akuta-gami (アクタガミ Akutagami) (25):

Áshu Tribe

The Áshu Tribe (アシュ族, Ashu Zoku) is a race which apparently is an unknown branch along the human evolution line. Each Áshu has a concentration of life force, namely a "soul", which gives it particular fighting abilities. Feared and hunted down as "youkai" (demons) in ancient times due to their feline-gargoyle appearance, they were ultimately sealed within another dimension using the "100-Demon Mirror", only Gai and Hyouga remaining free. They first appeared in Task 17 to obtain the mirror to release their brethren. However, only Rei got released before the mirror was shattered to keep the others from entering the human world. Eiji Takaoka, as a member of the Takaoka clan, has been fighting this group even before joining the SGS. The Áshu use their claws to rip off the skin of their human-sized bodies in half (from the middle outward along the line of symmetry) when they grow giant.

  • Quester (クエスター Kuesutā): A term Gaja used for Áshu who had been "enhanced" by the Gordom Engine, turning into robotic-armored versions of themselves. The Questers posessed the ability to create wavelengths with the Gordom Engine, which interfere with the power of the AccelSuits' Parallel Engine, and can melt into the ground.
    • Gai (ガイ Gai): Nicknamed "The Furious Demon God (怒りの鬼神 Ikari no Kishin)". The leader of the Áshu Tribe, a purple and green demon who can conjure forth a bazooka-like weapon. Gai is a brash and savage demon who loves to destroy. He and BoukenSilver are bitter enemies, because long ago he told a young Eiji that he was part Áshu and that his mother was one as well and because he killed Eiji's father, Kando when he tried to prevent Eiji's Áshu side from growing. When Gai saw Natsuki's braclet he said it was "The Proof of the Chosen One," and he and Hyouga kidnapped Natsuki and used her blood to free Rei from the 100-Demon Mirror. With Rei's assistance he used Rei's illusion-inducing poison to make Satoru see that he was Satoru's old companion Masaki to confuse and kill him with the Fighter's Crossbow, however when Satoru confronted his illusion it disappeared. Defeated by Eiji (who threw his monk staff at him like a javelin), and terminated by Ultimate DaiBouken and the Áshu Spirit Extinguishing, only to be revived by Gajah's Gordom Engine as Quester Gai (クエスター・ガイ Kuesutā Gai). In this form Gai wields two guns that also act as short swords.
    • Rei (レイ Rei): Nicknamed "The Grand Beast (大いなる獣 Oinaru Kemono)". Gai and Hyouga freed this powerful tiger-like demon from the 100-Demon Mirror by using the captured Natsuki's blood. Rei is a quiet, calm, cruel, and calculating demon who loves to make people suffer. According to legends, Rei is the most evil of the Áshu Tribe. He has power over fire. He cast an illusion-inducing poisonous mist that Satoru inhaled making Satoru's heart doubt and think that Gai was his old partner Masaki, while Gai shot him with the Fighter's Crossbow, however Satoru eventually fought the doubt he had and saw through the deception. Satoru tried to use the Dual Crusher Mixer Head on Rei, but Rei simply broke out of it with his fire powers. Defeated by Satoru wielding the Crossbow of Fighters, and terminated by Ultimate DaiBouken and the Áshu Spirit Extinguishing, only to be revived by Gajah's Gordom Engine as Quester Rei (クエスター・レイ Kuesutā Rei). In this form Rei wields a sword that also acts as a gun. He also has the ability to project a person's memories and thoughts with a projector on his right arm by touching someone.
  • Quester Robos ((クエスターロボ) Kuesutā Robo): Giant mecha used by the Questers. Though the first Quester Robo was actually a Giant God named Gagadom, created by Gajah.
    • Quester Robo Turbo (クエスターロボ ターボ Kuesutā Robo Tābo) (23): First Quester Robo built by Gai and Rei for their plan to destroy the building in which the Precious were kept in order to steal them. • Hyouga (ヒョウガ Hyōga) (17): A blue and black Áshu with a large, icy crown-like horn that he can use to shoot lightning bolts. With Gai, he kidnapped Natsuki and used her blood to free Rei from the 100-Demon Mirror. He is immensely loyal to his fellow Áshu. He was the first to fight the other Boukengers and was defeated by the Dual Crusher Drill Head (wielded by BoukenRed) when trying to protect Gai and physically destroyed by Ultimate DaiBouken after giving a thrashing to Super DaiBouken, but his spirit was completely killed off with the Áshu Spirit Extinguishing.

Precious

Precious (プレシャス, Pureshasu) are the dangerous treasures that the Boukengers and Negative are fighting over. For a relic to be considered a Precious, it must be physically or technologically superior to any current human (or SGS-related) technology. The hand-held Accellular henshin devices use their half-open Scan Mode to determine the "Hazard Level" of each relic; the higher the number, the more important or dangerous the Precious is. Each relic that ends up in the Boukengers' hands is placed into a box that materializes from a card-like device.

Names/Puns

The origin of names
  • Red/Satoru Akashi
    • "Akashi (明石)" is from the surname of Japanese officer Motojiro Akashi (明石 元二郎), who entrapped Russia to confusion as a spy of the imperial Japanese army in the Russo-Japanese war.
    • The kanji for "Satoru", 暁, means "sunrise", which is usually red. And "Satoru" is also Japanese for "to realize".
  • Black/Masumi Inou
    • "Inou (伊能)" is from the surname of Japanese surveyor and cartographer, Tadataka Inou (伊能 忠敬). He is known as a person who exerted himself for creation the first perfect map of Japanese Islands by modern surveying techniques.
    • The second kanji of "Masumi", 墨 (sumi), means "black ink", which is used in calligraphy.
  • Blue/Souta Mogami
    • "Mogami (最上)" is from the surname of Japanese explorer Tokunai Mogami (最上 徳内), who exerted himself for Ezo's exploitation (Ezo is the former name of Hokkaido).
    • The first kanji of "Souta", 蒼 (), means "blue".
  • Yellow/Natsuki Mamiya
    • "Mamiya (間宮)" is from the surname of Japanese explorer Rinzo Mamiya (間宮 林蔵), who traced that Sakhalin (Karafuto) was not a peninsula but an island. Incidentally, Rinzo had learned surveying techniques from Tadataka Inou, just as Masumi is a mentor of sorts to Natsuki.
    • The first kanji of "Natsuki", 菜 (na), means "cole", and cole blossoms are yellow.
  • Pink/Sakura Nishihori
    • "Nishihori (西堀)" is from the surname of Japanese scientist and alpinist, Eizaburo Nishibori (西堀 栄三郎). He is known as the captain of the primary Japanese Antarctica wintering party.

Trivia

  • In honor of Super Sentai's 30th Anniversary, Carddas released the Rangers Strike Trading Card Game. Also, the Tokyo Dome hosted a Double Hero Festival in honor of not only the anniversary above, but also the 35th Anniversary of the Kamen Rider series. A Boukenger stage show, starring the first five Boukengers, was hosted on July 22, while a Kamen Rider Kabuto stage show (starring Souji, Arata, Hiyori, Sou, and Daisuke) was hosted the next day. The Dome was divided into a Show Stage, a Super Sentai Zone (further divided into a Red Hero Zone, a Giant Robot Zone, and a Supermachine Zone), a Kamen Rider Zone (further divided into an Ishinomori Era Rider Zone, a Post-Inshinomori Rider Zone, and a Superbike Zone), a Shop, a Sponsor Booth, and a Play Aera.
    • In the Go Go Crane card, the Go Go Crane itself can be seen accompanied by GaoGiraffe from Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger and both carry a steel I-beam. This is because GaoGiraffe was disguised as a crane until being awakened by GaoBlue.
  • This is the fourth sentai series to have closing remarks before the ending theme begins. Others include Abaranger, Dekaranger and Magiranger.
  • This is the first Super Sentai since Denji Sentai Megaranger that the color scheme has been Red, Black, Blue, Yellow, Pink, and Silver.
  • The mecha use the same combination tactics used in GaoRanger and Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger, in that multiple arm and backpack components are interchangeable.
  • Episode #1500 was reached in this series, with Task 20, which reviewed Gosei Sentai Dairanger as part of the "30 Sentai Encyclopedia".
  • The SGS abbreviation has a hidden Japanese word sagasu, which means "to search." The Sagasniper is a combination of both that word and "sniper", since it transforms from sniper rifle to metal detector.
  • On an interesting side note, the four groups in the Negative Syndicate are colored red (Jaryuu), white (Gordom), blue (Dark Shadow), and black (Áshu/Questers). The groups may somehow be connected to the notion of the Five Asian Elements & the Four Sacred Beasts.
  • This series is the first since Kyuukyuu Sentai GoGo-V to not feature a tense relationship between the leader and the second-in-command (though it still features an anti-hero character). It is also the first since Ohranger where the leader is treated as a higher authority by the other team members.
  • This is the first series since Abaranger to not have the main cast dancing to the ending credits.
  • From March 1 to June 30, a special "GouGou Sentai Boukenger Campaign" was put into operation. Fans who watched Boukenger would win a prize if they entered the correct number of Boukenger features, Precious features, Go Go Vehicle features, and Super Sentai features.
  • Boukenger's "Accel Tector" marks the first use of the word "Tector" as an armor name in Super Sentai in eight years. The last time that the "Tector" title was used was in the direct-to-video movie "Denji Sentai Megaranger VS Carranger" with the core Megarangers receiving Mega Tector armor. Previous uses include the Five Tector from Fiveman and the Battle Tector from Dynaman.
  • BoukenSilver is a departure from previous Silver Warriors, as instead of a flat silver color, he wears a metallic silver which shines like aluminium foil.
  • Aside from Mr. Voice's voice actor, who was the narrator for the previous 'Anniversary' series (as well as the original Himitsu Sentai Goranger), other actors from previous Sentai series have also made special appearances. Jimon Kagawa's actor previous played Great Professor Lee Keflen, the main villain in Choushinsei Flashman. Magi's actor previously played Tatsumi Mondo, father of the Tatsumi Siblings/Go-Go V team in Go-Go V, and Ragi's 'human' form actor previously played Kai Samezu (GaoBlue) in GaoRanger. Mami Higahsiyama who played Eiji's mother Kei, also played Miku Imamura (MegaPink) in Megaranger.
  • Voice actor Shozo Iizuka, who has voiced many villians in tokusatsu series, including Super Sentai, returns to provide the voice of the main villain in the movie after 5 years since Hyakujuu Sentai GaoRanger VS Super Sentai.
  • The Accel Tector is unique from other powerups accessible to entire teams, in the fact that can be used only by one member at a time.
  • In the Boukenger continuity, Leon Giordana seems to be the equivalent to classic Renaissance icon Leonardo Da Vinci, as can be seen in his picture album some models resembling Da Vinci's designs.
  • Like Naoto Takizawa/TimeFire from Timeranger, Eiji is a guest star until he first transforms into Ranger form.
  • According to Thai-Toku, this will be the first series since Hurricanger to contain 51 episodes and the first since Changeman to have two movies. The second movie is supposedly the 30th Anniversary tribute. Production started back in May 2006.

The 30 Sentai Encyclopedia

The 30 Sentai Encyclopedia (30戦隊大全集) is a series of featurettes that air at the end of each episode (Task) of Boukenger that honors each of its predecessors in the Super Sentai franchise.
