Trivia

  • This was the first time in SummerSlam history that the United States Championship was defended.
  • Bill Goldberg slipped and fell during his entrance.
  • Triple H had a groin injury going into the match, so he wore long wrestling tights to cover the leg brace he was wearing.
  • The main event for SummerSlam 2003 was originally to be Goldberg versus Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship, however Triple H was suffering from a groin injury thus resulting in the Elimination Chamber match.
  • After SummerSlam 2003 was officially over, the entire WWE roster (which the exception to a few) celebrated Vince McMahon's 58th birthday in the middle of the ring. Steve Austin was leading them, and he tried to get The Undertaker to do the Spinerooni, but was unsuccessful. Pat Patterson sung "My Way" to McMahon and it ended with Vince kissing Linda McMahon.
