SummerSlam 2003 was the sixteenth annual SummerSlam professional wrestling pay-per-view event from World Wrestling Entertainment. It took place on August 24, 2003 in the US Airways located in Phoenix, Arizona.
The official theme song for SummerSlam 2003 was "St. Anger" by Metallica.

- Sunday Night HEAT match: SmackDown! brand - Matt Hardy def. Zach Gowen (0:00)
- Hardy came out to have his match with Gowen, but Gowen was unable to compete due to injuries caused by Brock Lesnar a few days earlier on SmackDown!. Hardy made the referee declare him the winner by forfeit.
- Sunday Night HEAT match: SmackDown! brand - Rey Mysterio def. Shannon Moore to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship(2:03)
- Mysterio pinned Moore.
- RAW brand - La Résistance (René Duprée and Sylvain Grenier def. The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von) (w/Spike Dudley) to retain the World Tag Team Championship(7:49)
- Duprée pinne D-Von after a "cameraman", the newley debuted Rob Conway, hit D-Von with a camera.
- The Dudley Boyz had hit the 3D on Sylvain when Conway attacked D-Von.
- SmackDown! brand - The Undertaker def. A-Train (w/Sable)(9:19)
- Undertaker pinned A-Train after giving him the Chokeslam.
- Sable and Stephanie McMahon came down to the ring briefly fought with each other during the match.
- RAW brand - Shane McMahon def. Eric Bischoff in a No Diqualification, Falls Count Anywhere(10:36)
- Shane pinned Bischoff after a elbow drop off the top rope through the Spanish announcers table.
- The match originally was a normal match until mid-way through when Jonathan Coachman hit McMahon with a chair. Bischoff then made the match a No Disqualification, Falls Count Anywhere match.
- After the match Steve Austin made his way down to the ring and gave the Stone Cold Stunner to Coachman and then Bischoff when McMahon made Bischoff slap Austin (signifying being physically prevoked).
- SmackDown! brand - Eddie Guerrero def. Chris Benoit, Rhyno and Tajiri in a Fatal Four-Way match to retain the WWE United States Championship(10:50)
- Guerrero gave the Frog Splash to the back of Rhyno to get the pinfall.
- SmackDown! brand - Kurt Angle def. Brock Lesnar to retain the WWE Championship(21:17)
- Lesnar gave Angle The F-5, but when he atttempted a second one, Angle reversed hm into The Ankle lock and forced him to tap out.
- RAW brand - Kane def. Rob Van Dam in a No Holds Barred(12:49)
- Kane pinned RVD after a Tombstone Piledriver on the steel steps.
- RAW brand - Triple H def. Goldberg, Chris Jericho, Randy Orton, Kevin Nash and Shawn Michaels in a Elimination Chamber match to retain the World Heavyweight Championship(19:12)
- Triple H had to rest his groin injury as much as he could so as soon as he entered the match he was superkicked and sent back into his chamber to rest and Ric Flair gave him a sledgehammer.

Trivia
- This was the first time in SummerSlam history that the United States Championship was defended.
- Bill Goldberg slipped and fell during his entrance.
- Triple H had a groin injury going into the match, so he wore long wrestling tights to cover the leg brace he was wearing.
- The main event for SummerSlam 2003 was originally to be Goldberg versus Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship, however Triple H was suffering from a groin injury thus resulting in the Elimination Chamber match.
- After SummerSlam 2003 was officially over, the entire WWE roster (which the exception to a few) celebrated Vince McMahon's 58th birthday in the middle of the ring. Steve Austin was leading them, and he tried to get The Undertaker to do the Spinerooni, but was unsuccessful. Pat Patterson sung "My Way" to McMahon and it ended with Vince kissing Linda McMahon.
