The Wailers Band was the backing band for Bob Marley from 1974 until his death in 1981. When Bob Marley originally started singing with Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh on the album Catch A Fire and Burnin', they were known simply as The Wailers. After Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh no longer wanted to tour (for their own reasons) Chris Blackwell decided to market Bob Marley as a rock&roll band, and the name was changed to "Bob Marley & the Wailers".
The Wailers Band was led by Junior Marvin/Aston Barrett after the death of Bob Marley.
As of 2006 The Wailers Band continue play on the Unity tour along with Pepper and 311. Their Current lineup includes: Junior Marvin on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Al Anderson on Lead Guitar, Aston "Family Man" Barrett on Bass, Keith Sterling on Keys, Drummie Zeb on Drums, Marcia on background vocals (aka Wailers Sister)
