Civil War: Young Avengers/Runaways is a comic book limited series tie-in to the "Civil War" crossover event. The series serves as a team-up between the the characters from Young Avengers and Runaways. The series is written by Zeb Wells and drawn by Stefano Caselli. Allan Heinberg and Brian K. Vaughan, the series' respective writers, serve as creative consultants to Wells.
Production History
Civil War: Young Avengers/Runaways bridges the gap between the first and announced second volumes of the Young Avengers series, which is taking a break until early 2007 due to writer Allan Heinberg's busy schedule with various television projects and his run on DC's Wonder Woman. It takes place after the events of Runaways v2 #21 and Young Avengers v1 #12. [1]
Plot summary
At a farmer's market, the Flag-Smasher battles S.H.I.E.L.D. agents tasked with apprehending unauthorized superhumans. The runaways intervene and defeat the Flag-Smasher, attracting the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D., whose agents damage Victor. The Young Avengers view the altercation on television, and the Vision suffers a seizure. When Patriot cannot convince Captain America to let the Young Avengers recruit and help the runaways, the Young Avengers steal a Quinjet and use Wiccan's magic to find the runaways. Molly attacks the group, thinking they are working with Iron Man and S.H.I.E.L.D. The team subdues Molly and enters the Hostel and talk to the runaways. The Vision approached Victor's body and the two experience seizures like those the Vision suffered before. Template:Endspoiler
Positions
Both the Young Avengers and the runaways are opposed to the Superhuman Registration Act, but each team enters into the "Civil War" in different ways. The Young Avengers are based in New York City, which is the epicenter of the war, and they talk about the Act from the beginning. They are eventually captured by S.H.I.E.L.D., but Captain America rescues them and recruits them into his "Secret Avengers". The runaways are based in Los Angeles, which has few superhumans. The resistance doesn't have the manpower to make its presence known in L.A., but the government-sponsored enforcers were able to attempt to round up any West Coast superhumans. The runaways don't keep up with current events until they are engaged by S.H.I.E.L.D. enforcers.
