ISTP is a personality type from the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.

According to the underlying psychological theory, ISTPs are the quiet rebels that do not like to be bothered. ISTPs make fantastic pilots and motorcycle riders because they are so in tune with their environment and are great at dealing with chaos. This is why you will notice that almost all pilots also like to drive motorcycles (see movie Top Gun). What may feel like a dangerous situation to the average person, the ISTP is comfortable dealing with because they tend to remain cool-headed and deal with chaotic situations rationally.

ISTPs are the personality type that pushes the limits of physical achievement and exploration. Anyone that crosses the arctic circle on cross country skis or jumps from a balloon at 80,000 feet could only be an ISTP.

As an ISTP gets older (around mid thirties), their iNtuition tends to develop and they tend to gain insight to how the physical world works and are good at inventing tools to manipulate their world around them.

Famous persons who have been suggested to have this personality type are James Dean, Clint Eastwood, Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, Neil Armstrong, Chuck Yeager, Amelia Earhart and Harrison Ford.
