Star Trek: New Frontier
Star Trek: New Frontier is a Star Trek novel series created by Peter David. The idea behind it was to create a Star Trek book series with its own continuity and not one that is purely reactionary to the television shows.
First published in 1997 as four short novels, Peter David's New Frontier series was set in the regular "next generation" universe, but in the wholly unexplored Sector 221 - G, home of the recently fallen Thallonian Empire.
Bringing along firm fan favorites for the crew of his ship, the U.S.S Excalibur, David decided to make his own little corner of the Star Trek Universe. Almost Eight years on, countless stories have been told, and David has so entrenched his vision in Star Trek lore, that other authors are even throwing references in about the NF universe. The series even inspired its own action figure, something no Star Trek novel has done before.
