Pitkerro is a area in Dundee often called Mid-Craigie or "Mid" for short.

The Councillor for Pitkerro is Christina Roberts, who is with the Scottish National Party (SNP).

The Pitkerro area has 5 Schools (3 Primary Schools and 2 High Schools) with a combined amount of 1994 pupils attending the schools. The areas longest serving school, St. Saviours R.C High School will be closing down in 2008, mostly because of the large decrease in pupil numbers and poor exam results. Whitfield's high school, Braeview Academy, will be taking over the school building as there school is getting demolished.

Together, Pitkerro, Kirkton and Hilltown contain 31% of Dundee's enumeration districts which fall within the worst 10% of deprived districts in Scotland. The population, which has been in substantial decline in all these areas is currently around 24,000. Pitkerro has slowly become one the worst areas to live in Dundee. This is mainly down to gangs and gang violence, drugs, thefts, underage sex and pregnancys and the delapitation of the houses. Gang violence and theft has severely went down since 2004, but the sale of drugs has risen. Dundee City Councill recently built new houses next to Westcroft Road and Drumlanrig Drive and has proved to be a success.

Rumours are going around the Pitkerro area that Dundee City Councill are planning on changing the areas name to "Sunny Valley" to make the area sound nicer and happier to people.

The busses that pass through the Pirkerro are the number 8, 15, 17, 17A.

In 1998 the Douglasfield area of Pitkerro got a MECCA Bingo which attracted alot of people from surrounding areas who didn't want to go to the City Center to play Bingo.

ODEON Douglasfield

Two years later just after The Millennium, Douglasfield got an ODEON Cinema which attracted most of the city to the Pitkerro area and proved to be a big success and still is to this day.

The areas that surround Pitkerro are Fintry, Whitfield, Douglas and Stobswell.
