Anatol Lieven is a British author, journalist, and policy analyst. He was a Senior Associate for Foreign and Security policy at Carnegie Endowment for International Peace between 2000 and 2005, and is presently a Senior Research Fellow at the New America Foundation, where he focuses on US global strategy and the war on terror.

He covered the liberation of the Baltic Countries and the First Chechen War as a correspondent for The Times.
