A Brief History of Scott Rolle
Scott L. Rolle, was born June 30, 1961 in Montgomery County, Maryland. Scott is a graduate of the University of Dayton (1984) and earned his law degree from Ohio Northern University (1986). He is also a graduate of the F.B.I. National Law Institute in Quantico, Virginia. He lives in Frederick, MD with his wife Mary, an associate professor at Frederick Community College. They have three children, Dawn, Scott, Jr. and Devon.
Scott was elected State’s Attorney for Frederick County, Maryland in 1994. He was overwhelmingly re-elected in 1998 and 2002. Prior to becoming State’s Attorney, Rolle served as the Assistant State’s Attorney and the Chief Narcotics Prosecutor for Frederick County, MD. He was in private practice from 1991-1994.
Rolle serves as a Captain in the United States Army Reserve and has been awarded numerous military commendations including the National Defense Service Medal. He is an adjunct professor of criminal law at Mount Saint Mary's University and Frederick Community College. He is a member of both the Maryland Bar Association and the Frederick County Bar Association.
As State’s Attorney, Scott Rolle has established a Youthful Offender Program designed to identify at risk youth at an early stage. The program uses intervention techniques to attempt to place the youth on a more productive life path. He established Maryland’s first animal cruelty prevention and prosecution team to assist Animal Control Officers in investigating and successfully prosecuting animal cruelty cases. Rolle also initiated a mediation project in an effort to keep minor criminal cases from clogging up the court system.
He has been a strong advocate for victims’ rights and those of crime victims’ families. The Daily Record Newspaper [ cited Rolle in 2005 with its Leadership in Law Award. He has been awarded the Governor’s Citation for his work in the area of forfeiture of drug dealer assets and as Chief Narcotics Prosecutor.
