V.I.P. Cup
Appearance
The V.I.P. Cup is a trophy awarded to the minor premiers of each season in the Australian Ice Hockey League; that is, the team that finishes first overall in the standings at the end of the regular season. The trophy is much like the Presidents' Trophy awarded by the NHL, which is also given out to the team finishing with the most points at the end of the season.
The trophy is named for its sponsor, V.I.P. Home Services.
The current holders of the trophy are the Melbourne Ice, who finished at the top of the standings in the 2006 AIHL season, but lost their first-round playoff game to the eventual league champions, the Newcastle North Stars.
