KQCA (also known on air as My58) is a current affiliate of My Network TV. The Hearst-Argyle owned station is licensed to Stockton, California, but is based in Sacramento, California with sister station KCRA.
History
My58 went on the air on April 13,1986 with the call letters KSCH and originally was an independent station airing classic television shows of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s (some shows not seen since their original network/syndication runs). It was also the first stereo sound station in the Sacramento/Stockton/Modesto area built from the ground up.
On February 1,1995, the station changed its call letters to its current call sign, KQCA, became an original affiliate of the UPN network and its on-air branding was changed to "Q58". It finally swapped affiliations on January 5, 1998 with another Sacramento television station, KMAX, KQCA became known as a affiliate of The WB. In 1999, the "Q58" branding was dropped in favor of its call letters and channel number. In September 2004, it finally changed its on-air branding to "WB58", a branding used by many other WB affiliates. KQCA dropped The WB on Sept 04, 2006 and affiliated with My Network TV. KQCA's on-air branding is now known currently as "My58". KQCA will not follow the 8-10 PM schedule like most other affiliates. Instead the station will have Desire and Fashion House from 7 to 9 PM and have Oprah from 9 to 10 PM leading up to MY58 News at 10 PM. This unique scheduling would make them the second station in the Sacramento TV market (and in this case, the Pacific Time Zone) not to follow the traditional 8-11 PM (Or in this case, 8-10 PM) network schedule; the other being KOVR, who always had a 7-10PM lineup since its network switch to CBS in 1995.
My58 is currently owned by Hearst-Argyle Television in a duopoly with sister station KCRA, which produces all of My58's 10 o'clock newscasts. Also, as a result of the duopoly, local rights to syndicated shows such as The Oprah Winfrey Show, Dr. Phil, and The West Wing are shared between the two sister stations.
