Peters Cartridge Company
The Peters Cartridge Co. founded along the banks of the Little Miami River near Kings_Mills,_Ohio. Started operations just prior to 1900.
Peters had married into the King Family, founders of the King Powder Co. and makers of smokeless powder. With this and his invention of the automatic cartridge loading machine, the cartridge company became a great success. In the 1900's, King Operated on the north bank and Peters on the south bank.
World War I brought enormous growth to Peters Cartridge. In the 1930's during the great depression, Peters sold out to Remington, his competitor. World War II started off with great success for the Cartridge Company but in the middle of war, the Peters plant in Kings Mills was shut down due to overproduction in favor of Remingtons east coast plants. Some of the buildings and shot tower still remain today, some buildings in use and others vacant.
During the years that Peters Cartridge was in business, there have been several generations of buildings. Some of the previous buildings were mostly temporary wood structures. Some concrete foundations of these buildings still stand covered with moss.
