The pastry known as the Persian originated in the city of Thunder Bay, Ontario (Canada). The exact date of it's inception is unknown as is it's creator. The history of the tasty treat has never been clearly defined making it a legend among people in the region. Thunder Bay locals have grown up with Persians for years which are now a staple of the community. They are widely available at most bake shops and local donut retailers around the city. Among children and teens, Persians are often ideal fundraising items to be sold at schools, churches, shopping malls, and other social events. To this day, the yummy cinnamon-bun-like creation remains exclusive to the city.

The recipe for this popular treat remains a secret with long-running debates of whether the icing contains raspberries or strawberries. The most accurate description is an oval-shaped, cinnamon-bun-like base with a sweet, pink icing on top.

When driving through Thunder Bay, making a stop at "The Persian Man", the bakery where the tasty pastry is believed to have originated, is a must.
