Within Temptation

Within Temptation is a goth metal band from Netherland, founded by guitarist Robert Westerholt in 1996.
Biography
They signed a contract with DSFA Records less than two months after being founded, and in April the following year, they released their first album, Enter. In November they made a two week tour in Germany and Austria. In 1998 they released the EP The Dance.
1999 was a slow year for Within Temptation, but after finishing their studies in December 2000, they released a new album entitled Mother Earth. The album was a huge success, and the band played for a large number of fans at many big festivals and sold-out concert halls. Two singles followed; Our Farewell and Ice Queen.
Their definite breakthrough came in 2002, when their single Ice Queen reached #1 in Netherland and Belgium. Mother Earth achieved platinum status in Netherland, and gold status in Belgium.
In both countries they received the TMF/MTV Awards. The band played at the major festivals in the Benelux (Ozzfest, Lowlands, Dynamo, Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop and Parkpop), as well as in Germany (Rock im Park, Bizarre and Summerbreeze). In France, Within Temptation toured Paris, Lyon, Lille, Bordeaux and Toulon - all sold-out.
