Mon, Oct 10, 2005 -- Important Changes to Mitigating Circumstances Please be aware there have been changes to the previous guidelines for the submission of mitigating circumstances with the introduction of Dr Hal Sosabowski the Student Welfare Officer. If a student feels disadvantaged by relevant factors beyond their control i.e. illness, bereavement etc they must submit to the school office a completed mitigating circumstances (ARGEAR 3) and supplementary form at the eariest opportunity after the relevant examination or course work submission date and before the mitigating circumstances deadline which by definition will be the last day of the examination period. The completed form must be submitted with accompanying independent documentary evidence. The evidence should show that the circumstance existed at the relevant time and that they had a significant effect upon their studies. If a student has missed a single practical session or a lecture then they must obtain an absence slip from the School office and return the completed slip to the relevant module leader. These instances will not require consideration by the mitigating circumstances committeee and can be dealt with by the Module leader. You can find more detailed information regarding these changes in the Student Study Skills Handbook by clicking on the link below. If in any doubt about the new policy please contact your personal tutor, the School Welfare Office or the School Office room 612. Posted by Shaun Daniels

Wed, May 11, 2005 -- 3rd year M.Pharm students: PY424 special topics preferences for next year! There is a link in the M.Pharm folder via which you can indicate your preference for each topic to be taken next year in PY424. Details for each topic are given in the same folder. When you follow the link, you will be asked to fill in details including a PIN number for your record. If you want to change your preferences later, you will need to know both the record number and your PIN number. Please make a note of these. You are asked to rank the topics on a scale of 1 to 3, with 1 being "I would like to study this topic", 2 = "This topic isn't in my top 5, but I might enjoy taking it" and 3 = "This topic isn't in my top 10 - I would prefer not to take it". Every final year M.Pharm student should be capable of studying any of the topics and the registering of preferences is intended to allow you to study areas that you are particularly interested in. It is expected that each student would rank at least five topics as 1st choice, and not more than three as 3rd choice. Please see me if you have any questions about the above.
