Daihatsu Midget

An Auto rickshaw originally designed by Daihatsu (the 'Midget'), built in licence in India and Indonesia (as becak).

Bajaj is also the biggest producer of Vespa-like scooters. Its Chetak (named after a famous heroe's horse) looks perfectly like an ancient Vespa, and even the newest models still remind of the Primavera of the sixties. Bajaj had the license, but after having a row with Piaggio, Bajaj renamed it Chetak. Bajaj's first try to import the Chetak in Europe ended in a trial - Piaggio sued Bajaj because the Chetak looked too much like their own product. Since the design reform of 1996, the Chetak looks different and people all around the world can buy their own Chetak. Most of them are people who cannot afford an ancient Vespa.

Bajaj builds the scooter, plus some motorcycles and the legendary rickshaw-cab, based upon the Ape.
