The Seine (Latin Sequana) is a 776 km (485 miles) long river running through northern France. It rises in the Langres Plateau, flows through the country's capital Paris and eventually reaches the English Channel near Le Havre.

Other cities along the Seine include Troyes and Rouen.

Until the administrative reorganization in the 1960s, Seine was département number 75, named after the river and containing the city of Paris and the surrounding area.

A seine (Greek sagéné) is a kind of fishing net.
