W.A.S.P. is the debut eponymous album by the band of the same title, released in 1984 (see 1984 in music). The subtitle to the album was "Winged Assassins" but for some reason the record is commonly known as "W.A.S.P." This might be because only the LP had the words "Winged Assassins" on it. The Song "Sleeping (In the Fire)" has been covered by Tiamat, "Hellion" by Children of Bodom, "L.O.V.E. Machine" by Lullacry and Fozzy, and "I Wanna Be Somebody" by Sentenced and Witchery.

On its original release, iconic track "Animal (Fuck Like A Beast)" was removed after record company objections. It was released on an independant labe in the UK as a single, then re-instated for the 1998 reissue.
