Santiago de Cali It is the capital of the Valle del Cauca, state in Colombia. With a population up to two million, it's one of the most important cities in the country.

Cali is located in the Vally of the Cauca, between the Western and Center range its weather is warm at day and fresh at night, because the winds from the hill. The average temperature is 25°C, (85°F) all the year due to it's proximity to the Equatorial line. Well-knowed as the Worldwide capitol of salsa.

History

Santiago de Cali was founded by Sebastián de Belalcázar in July 25th of 1536, looking for a sea-way. initially was stablished in the center of the Cauca Valley, moved the next year to its actual location..

Places of Interest

La Ermita. Gothic-style church located in the downtown and a very representative place.

La Tertulia. Museum of modern art.

Museo arqueológico La Merced. Colonial-type church, converted in an archaeological museum of the rests of ancient cultures who lived in the region.

Museo del Oro del Banco de la República. Museum of Archaelogical exhibits (in gold) of the ancient cultures who lived in the region.

Cerro de las tres cruces. A hill embellished with three big crosses where can be viewed all the city

Iglesia de San Antonio. Colonial-type church, at the top of an idem hill in the traditional San Antonio neighbour.

Cerro de Cristo Rey. Another hill embellished with a big statue of Jesus Christ.

Canchas Panamericanas Deportive Complex what include the Pascual Guerrero stadium, Evangelista Mora Gym, a lot of deportive fields, pools and stuff. Is also knowed by the typical iced drink (Cholado) selled around.

Pance Extend rural zone at the south frequently visited as amusement, surrounded of plentiful vegetation and irrigated by the Pance river.
