When the current Military Establishment in Pakistan decided to create a docile PML (Q) in the form of like-minded group, Anwar Khan's younger brother Salim Saifullah Khan joined it as its Frontier president and apparently secured his release on bail. Anwar Khan was earlier arrested by NAB and several politically motivated charges were leveled against him such as jobs allotment to the people of his constituency, and private usage of the OGDC’s plane.
