Bartolomeo Francesco Rastrelli (1700 - 1771) was an Italian architect. He was employed extensively by Elizabeth of Russia and later Catherine II, designing many palaces and other monuments in the Baroque style. His largest and most famous work is the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg.
