Plot summary

The teens read their local newspaper, and found out that the Mayor of Angel Grove is proclaming the weekend to be Power Rangers Day throughout all of Angel Grove. They decided to attend the celebration that was going to occur that day. Meanwhile, Rita Repulsa has bigger plans to ruin the festivities and put an end to the Power Rangers once and for all. She traps everyone from Angel Grove in another dimension, leaving Angel Grove open for attacks. It's up to the Power Rangers to save the day. Unlike previous battles, when the Rangers fought monsters, they're going to fight an evil Zord known as Cyclopsis, who is piloted by Goldar. The Rangers summoned both the Megazord and Dragonzord to battle it out with Cyclopsis. They destroyed Cyclopsis with the Ultrazord, but Rita summons Lokar to destroy the Zords. The Rangers return to the command center, but they were told that the Zords would be recharged within 12 hours, but Jason requested to charge it within 20 minutes, feeling that by the time the 12 hours of charging passes, it would be too late. They have to fight Cyclopsis again. This time, it's in it's second form, which is stronger, and still piloted by Goldar. Zordon and Alpha 5 ended up finding secret information of Cyclopsis since Rita's palace is on Earth. They told the Rangers that Cyclopsis' weakness is not keeping up with how the opponent would look. So the Rangers decided to change the forms of the Megazord, then turn into the MegaDragonZord, then the Ultrazord to beat Cyclopsis and Lokar. Rita escapes Earth and returns to the moon.The citizens return to Angel Grove Park and the Celebration continues. Bulk and Skull were removed from the stage so the Power Rangers could join the mayor. Tommy appears in the end for support, watching the Power Rangers celebrate all of their victories. Later, Zordon aasked the Rangers whether they want to continue as Power Rangers, or go back to their normal lives. The Rangers decided not to return to their normal lives because there could be a possibility that greater evil would come and they wanted to continue to protect the city.

Trivia

Originally, this two part episode was meant to be the Series Finale of Power Rangers. It had a different ending than the one everyone has seen. It was originally going to be that there was a real final battle between Lokar and the Rangers, and Rita with all of her minions gets captured and returns into a dumpster, the same ending as Kyouryuu Sentai ZyuRanger. There was supposed to be some sort of party after the celebration. This ending never happened due to the overwhelming popularity of the show.
