Bookspan LLC is a New York-based online book seller, founded in 2000.[2] It began as a joint endeavor by Bertelsmann and Time Warner.[1] Bertelsmann took over control in 2007, and a year later, sold its interest to Najafi Cos, an Arizona investment firm, which held its ownership in a subsidiary named Direct Brands, which also held its ownership in the Columbia House record club.[1][2] In 2013, Najafi sold its interest in Direct Brands to Pride Tree Holdings,[1][3] a New York-based media and consumer technology holding company founded in 2012 and incorporated in Delaware.[4][5]

Bookspan operates a number of book-of-the-month clubs. As of 2017, the clubs include:
