We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank

We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank is the confirmed title of the upcoming Modest Mouse album, expected to be released December 19th, 2006. It is their first studio album since 2004's Good News for People Who Love Bad News, and it is also the first album with former The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr. It should also be noted that original Modest Mouse drummer Jeremiah Green has returned for this album.

According to Isaac Brock, Johnny Marr was involved in songwriting on the album, and will tour with the band in support of this album. Brock has described We Were Dead as a "nautical balalaika carnival romp."

Just recently this past week, Isaac Brock was seen in Oxford, Mississippi with Johnny Marr and the other memembers of Modest Mouse playing a very small show outside of Proud Larry's in the town square. Dennis Herring was also with the band playing several percusiion instruments. The account is being covered by The Oxfors Eagle.
