Weekend of Horrors is a quarter-annual (with occasionally more) travelling convention which focuses on horror films. It is owned and operated by Fangoria Magazine.

Convention Layout

The conventions, which also deal in all areas of the horror genre outside filmmaking, are made up of three different areas:

  • The Dealers' Area, which is made up primarily of vendors selling horror-themed merchandise and booths advertising films,
  • The Auditorium, where panels and speeches are given for the duration of the convention,
  • And The Trailer Room, where trailers for new horror films are run repeatedly for the entire convention.

Some conventions also have Screening Rooms, which feature new and old films, and a Cocktail Party, where guests and mingle with horror personalities after-hours.

Locations and Date Expansion

Weekend of Horrors occurs annually in Secaucus, New Jersey (Autumn) and Burbank, California (Spring). All other destinations are chosen based on the year. There are anywhere from four to six Weekend of Horrors conventions annually in the United States.

Starting with the 2006 Weekend of Horrors in Secaucus, New Jersey, the convention has expanded from a two-day (Saturday and Sunday) event, to a three-day (including Friday). This expanded schedule is planned for all future Weekend of Horrors conventions.
