Several possible meanings.

1. A kingdom is a land ruled by a king.

2. A kingdom is the highest-level grouping of organisms used in traditional scientific classification. There are five kingdoms:

Monera - Bacteria and blue-green algae (prokaryotes)
Protista - More complex single-celled organisms and algae (eukaryotes)
Fungi - Mushrooms, yeasts, and other fungi
Plantae - Plants
Animalia - Animals
