The Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) is a Korean corporate conglomerate that produces a huge variety of industrial products, including automobiles, semiconductors and electronics, ships, as well as conducts banking and construction activities.

Outside Korea, Hyundai is probably best known for their automobiles, which were first exported in large quantities in the 1980s. Early models had a reputation for good value, but mediocre design and engineering. Subsequent models have closed the gap with their more expensive competitors.

In 2000, severed its partnership with the Hyundai Business Group.

In 2000, established a strategic alliance with DaimlerChrysler
