A Bilby is a small Australian marsupialwith long ears and a long muzzle. Bilbies are an endangered species due to environmental pressures from humans, domestic and feral animals. They occupy a similar environmental niche to the rabbit, and there have been moves to popularise them as an Australian alternative to the Easter bunny by selling chocolate Easter Bilbies (sometimes with a portion of the profits going to Bilby protection and research).
