From Taíno Culture (Antilles, West Indies, Carribbean)

The Guanín was a gold disc worn by a Taíno "Cacique" (tribal chief). It was usually made of gold extracted from rivers in Puerto Rico. Flakes of gold were tapped with rocks until the flakes melted together forming a round disc the Cacique would wear on his neck.
