John Brombaugh
John Brombaugh is a master organ builder. He is known for his historical, tracker action instruments, which are often in mean-tone temperament.
He holds degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and Cornell University. His apprenticeship was performed under the guidance of two the leading organ builders in America, Fritz Noack and Charles Fisk. In Hamburg, he was a journeyman under Rudolph von Beckerath. His firm, John Brombaugh & Associates has built 61 organs that are located in 23 states, Canada and Sweden. Recently, his Opus 35, an organ of 3,250 pipes, 3 manuals and pedal with 46 stops, was dedicated in Springfield, Illinois. It resides at the First Presbyterian Church, formerly attended by Abraham Lincoln and his family.
