Kristin Davis

Kristin Landen Davis (born February 23 or February 24, 1965 depending on the source) is an American actress who is most famous for the role of Charlotte York Goldenblatt on HBO's Sex and the City.

Biography

Kristin Landen Davis was born on February 23 or 24, 1965, in Boulder, Colorado. An only child, her parents divorced when she was a baby and she was adopted by her stepfather after he married her mother in 1968. Early in her childhood Kristin and her parents moved to Columbia, South Carolina, where her stepfather (a psychology professor) was transferred to a university. She lived in South Carolina until she graduated from A.C. Flora High School in 1982. She then moved to New Jersey, where she attended Rutgers University.

After graduation in 1987, she moved to New York and waited tables before opening a yoga studio with a friend. In 1995 she got her big break when she landed the role of Brooke Armstrong Campbell on "Melrose Place" in 1992. She left the show after one year when producers found that audience members hated her bitchy character. Davis also had roles in other television series including Friends and Seinfeld. In 1998, Kristin was cast as Charlotte York in "Sex and the City", of which she remained an integral cast member until the series ended in 2004. She has also hosted the VH1 show 200 Greatest Pop Culture Icons.

In 2005, Davis starred in a television pilot entitled Soccer Moms in which she and Gina Torres star as two suburban mothers who moonlight as private detectives. Other films include The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3D, where she plays Max's mom, opposite David Arquette and George Lopez, and the Walt Disney Pictures film The Shaggy Dog, where she plays Rebecca Douglas, opposite Tim Allen. She also performed in ABC Family's Christmas movie, Three Days, and starred in a commercial for Head and Shoulders in 2006.

Davis was recently voted 'world's most beautiful woman' in a survey carried out by 4,000 thirtysomething women for eve magazine.

Personal life

Davis was introduced to alcohol early, as part of her southern life style. It left her with a liking, which turned into an excess need - which she battled back from: "I'm 12 years sober, so I don't have beer! When I used to drink I really liked Bass Ale!"

Having admitted to a preference for dating actors, her ex-boyfriend list is high profile and extensive, including: Alec Baldwin (whom she guest starred with on both "Will & Grace" 1998 and "Friends" 1994); Jeff Goldblum; Liev Schreiber and Steve Martin. She says: ""If I had one wish for myself, it would be to fall in love. That's asking for trouble, but that's the truth."

Davis currently resides in Los Angeles, and has no children. In the near future she hopes to travel and would particularly like to visit India.
