Appearance
- I'm a student from Bradford on Avon, a small town in West Wiltshire, in the south-west of England, part of the United Kingdom. I knew the members of Blackbud at school (not very well - they were in the two years below me).
- Hobbies and interests: maths, pinnipeds, non-league football, clarinet, piano, church organ, bell ringing, field hockey, Stage lighting, Backgammon, philology.
- Many of my edits relate to Mathematics, non-League football (as in soccer), or Canadian elections
- I also specialise in templates (see User:Tompw/templates and User:Tompw/leaguetemplates)
Wikipedia stuff
- My contriubutions as tompw and 217.155.46.150.
- How to edit a page, Wikipipe tables, images
- Frequently visited pages:
- Maths: Portal:Mathematics, Wikiproject maths, WP 1.0 stuff, CotW, Areas of mathematics, User:Tompw/Maths_cats
- Non-League Football: Wikiproject NLF, User:Tompw/leaguetemplates for a full list of league templates, User:Tompw/allclubs for templates in action. (I'm the creator and editor of popular non-League football website thePyramid.info)
- Contributions: I have made over 3,200 edits, which puts me in the top 0.4% of users by number of edits. However, a hefty proportion have been related to templates, so that doesn't reeally mean much. To me, the edit count is like the scenry on a train journey: it may be pretty and nice, but has nothing to do with the destination.
- I'm actually more intrested in the breadth of articles I've contributed to, rather than number of edits. (see here).
- Currently, I've edited over 900 articles, of which around 600 are football related. The rest include maths, athletics, places (espically in Nunavut), physics, astronomy and elections.
- Sample of major contributions: Areas of mathematics, 2005 Atlantic hurricane season (although so did 1,000 other people), Homotopy groups of spheres, English football league system, Clarinet, List of Alberta general elections, International Temperature Scale of 1990, Human mitochondrial DNA haplogroups, contents of User:Tompw/templates, and most of templates listed on User:Tompw/leaguetemplates
- I also created the colour scheme used on WP 1.0 for denoting the importance of articles, and the current scheme used for the quality of articles.
