Evil Shenron Template:Appears in:DBGT
(FUNimation's dub: Black Smoke Shenron)
In DBGT, after the death of Super Jinzō'ningen #17, Son Gokū and his friends put together the 7 Dragon Balls. Instead of Shenlong, a black dragon appears, that represents the Negative Energy that accumulated for many years (because the Dragon Balls use positive energy). This dragon is then divided into 7 evil Shenlongs, one for every Dragon Ball.
Porunga Template:Appears in:DBZ, DBGT
Porunga is the eternal dragon of Namek summoned when all the dragonballs of Namek are gathered. He is more brutal looking than the dragon of Earth, Shenron, with a heavily muscled upper body. He is also somewhat stronger and can grant three wishes instead of one, so long as it doesn’t exceed his creators power, his creator is still alive, and each request is delivered in the Namekian language.
Initially, Porunga had ability to bring only one person back to life at a time (though he could bring people back multiple times), as compared to Shenron who can bring back an unspecified number of people but can only do so once. Later, Porunga's power is strengthened to bring back as many lives as needed. A powerful god known as the Elder Kai criticized this as "a blasphemous act that disrupts the order of nature" but did not seem to mind after that.
Shenlong Template:Appears in:DB, DBZ, DBGT
(FUNimation's dub: Eternal Dragon / Shenron)
Shenlong (literally god dragon; called Shenron in the dub), is the eternal dragon of Earth. In the English dub of Dragonball Z, he is sometimes called the Eternal Dragon and in the early Harmony Gold English Dragon Ball English dub from the 1980s, it is known as a Dragon God. The Shenlong of the Black Star Dragonballs is red, opposed to the Shenlong of Earth who is Green.
Shenlong can be summoned by gathering all seven of the Dragon Balls of Earth. Shenlong can bestow any wish as long as it does not exceed the power of his creator, who must be still alive (i.e. Kami/Piccolo or Dende). Multiple times in the Dragon Ball series, Shenlong threatens to kill the summoner if they do not say a wish on time, or if they do not say a wish at all. Shenlong cannot bring back a person from the dead more than once. The Dragon Balls cannot be used for 365 Earth days after a wish is made, as they turn to stone. The Earth Dragonballs are relatively small, each about the size of a large orange, much smaller than the namekian dragonballs, which are the size of beachballs.
The base for Shenlong is a stone statue kept by his creator. If Shenlong is killed, the Dragon Balls turn to stone. The statue also shatters. If the creator or another Namekian wishes to, they can rebuild the statue to give life back to Shenlong and the Dragon Balls. This happened after Shenlong granted Piccolo-Daimaō's wish for youth.
While Kami and Piccolo weren't merged, Shenlong could only grant one wish. After Dende brought him back to life, he was able to grant two wishes. If the summoner wants, he can only make one wish. This makes the Dragon Balls turn to stone for only six months.
Black-Star Shenlong Template:Appears in:DBGT
(FUNimation's dub: Black Star Shenron)
The Black-Star Dragon was made by Kami when he and Piccolo were still one being. He can only be summoned by the Black Star Dragon Balls. This dragon can grant any wish, including killing someone, something neither Porunga or Shenlong can do. After the wish has been made, the Dragon Balls spread around the galaxy, and if they aren't brought back to the planet on which the wish was made in less than a standard year, it will explode. This dragon and the balls ceased to exist after Piccolo sacrifices his life in Dragon Ball GT.
Evil Dragon
The Evil Dragons (FUNimation's dub: Shadow Dragons) are a group of characters from the Anime Dragon Ball GT. They were born from overusing the Dragon Balls, as every wish creates negative energy that takes many years to dispel. Despite warnings from Rou Dai Kaioshin, the Z Fighters have used the Dragon Balls much more often than that, and too much negative energy built up. This meant that the Dragon Balls had cracked, and when the Z Fighters tried to summon Shenlong at the end of the Super Jinzō'ningen #17 Saga, the first Evil Dragon appeared instead, Evil Shenlong (FUNimation's dub: Black Smoke Shenron). He informs the Z Fighters about the negative energy, and then split himself into seven more Evil Dragons, one for each Dragon Ball.
The Evil Dragons are (in order of appearance):
- Liang Xing Long - the Two-Star Dragon (FUNimation's dub: Haze Shenron)
- Wu Xing Long - the Five-Star Dragon (FUNimation's dub: Rage Shenron)
- Liu Xing Long - the Six-Star Dragon (FUNimation's dub: Oceanus Shenron)
- Qi Xing Long - the Seven-Star Dragon (FUNimation's dub: Naturon Shenron)
- Si Xing Long - the Four-Star Dragon (FUNimation's dub: Nuova Shenron)
- San Xing Long - the Three-Star Dragon (FUNimation's dub: Eis Shenron)
- Yi Xing Long - the One-Star Dragon. (FUNimation's dub: Syn Shenron)
After the first six dragons are defeated, Yi Xing Long absorbs the other 6 Dragon Balls and becomes a powered up Yi Xing Long (FUNimation's dub: Omega Shenron), the final villain in the Dragon Ball Universe.
Yi Xing Long Template:Appears in:DBGT
(FUNimation's dub: Syn Shenron)
Yi Xing Long (Īshenron / One-Star Dragon) is by far the most powerful Evil Dragon, considering how he was made. Liang Xing Long, San Xing Long, Si Xing Long, Wu Xing Long, Liu Xing Long, & Qi Xing Long were created by a certain wish, all of them different. Yi Xing Long is all of the Negative Energy put into one being. When he first fights Son Gokū, he takes a beating, but then gets desperate and absorbs all the other Dragon Balls to reach his ultimate form: Omega Shenron (almost a fusion between all seven Dragon Balls, his form was nearly the same but he wielded all the abilities of the Evil Dragons). This is one of the most powerful villains in the Dragon Ball Universe, and apart from the Super Saiyan 4 Fusion Gogeta (who failed due to his own cockiness) the most powerful fighter at the very end. He was finally defeated by a Genki Dama with energy gathered from all over the universe.
Liang Xing Long Template:Appears in:DBGT
(FUNimation's dub: Haze Shenron)
Liang Xing Long is a dragon-like villain and the first of the seven Evil Dragons to appear.
Liang Xing Long came into being when Son Gokū used the Dragon Balls to bring a man named Bora back to life after a mercenary, T'ao Pai-pai, had killed him. When Gokū made his wish, Negative Energy increased within the Dragon Balls, particularly within the Er Xing Qui (Kanji: 二星球; katakana: エルシンチュウ, Rōmaji: Erushinchū, English: Two-Star Ball). When the Dragon Balls became completely corrupted by Negative Energy, the Er Xing Qui flew into a lake and transformed into Liang Xing Long.
The Evil Dragon's power was to use his Negative Energy to pollute water and slowly kill all surrounding life. He claimed to be the most powerful of the Evil Dragons but Wu Xing Long claimed to be the strongest as well. Wu Xing Long also said that Liang Xing Long was really the weakest (the strongest was really Yi Xing Long).
He is also very goofy, not unlike a clown. When the pollution affects Goku and Pan to the point where Liang Xing Long has the advantage, he quips, "Haven't you heard of a struggling hero, suddenly mustering up the strength to win?"
San Xing Long Template:Appears in:DBGT
(FUNimation's dub: Ice Shenron)
He is the Dragon of Ice and is also Si Xing Long's brother. San Xing Long joins the fight against Son Gokū. It is unknown what wish made San Xing Long. He is much more dishonourable and cowardly than his brother, hiding behind Pan's unconscious body when convenient, and blinding Son Gokū in order to make the fight easier. Son Gokū eventually proved he didn't need to see in order to beat him, and killed San Xing Long while still blind.
Si Xing Long Template:Appears in:DBGT
(FUNimation's dub: Nova Shenron)
The Dragon of Fire, Si Xing Long (Sūshenron / Four-Star Dragon), was born when Piccolo Daimaō wished for youth when Son Gokū was 15. Si Xing Long controls the fire element and is able to both use strong fire attacks and be unaffected by them. Initially his skin is covered by a magma-looking armor which boosts his defense but slows him down, eventually he gets rid of that shell and reveals his orange colored skin.
Without his magma shell Si Xing Long is faster than Goku even in his Super Saiyan 4 transformation. He is not as strong as before, though. The Four Star Dragon fights him, but refuses to hurt Pan during the battle, Goku eventually traps him in a cave where he cannot escape from the Saiyan's attacks with his speed, but Goku refuses to kill him as a favor for not hurting Pan earlier.
San Xing Long appears and introduces himself as Si Xing Long twin brother. He wants to join forces with his brother to defeat Goku without any trouble. However, the Four Star Dragon is an honorable one, and when San Xing Long freezes Goku the fire dragon frees him from the ice prison. Once freed, Goku fights the ice dragon in a battle that eventually led to the blue dragon's destruction.
Yi Xing Long joins the battle too and dispatches the Four Star Dragon without much trouble. This leads to a fight between Goku and the most powerful dragon, during which Yi Xing Long fuses with the other six Dragon Balls, and gaining more than enough power to defeat Goku. During the battle Goku loses his transformation due lack of energy, but eventually retrieves the four-star Dragon Ball, which later appears on his forehead. Not long after that, Si Xing Long reappears from that Dragon Ball and starts to fight against Goku. This is just a trick, wrapping the most evil dragon inside a circle of flames, Si Xing Long attempted a devastating fire attack from which the stronger dragon couldn't have escaped. However, Yi Xing Long absorbs Si Xing Long again and gains the resistance against fire attacks that the other dragon has. With that, he managed to survive the attack unharmed. Thats the last time Si Xing Long is seen.
Si Xing Long is among the only fighters during the GT Series that can match a Super Saiyan 4 in combat. He is also the only one of the evil dragons to posses any morals. This could be because that he was born from a selfish wish (King Piccolo wishing for eternal youth), which would then release less negative energy than a wish that was meant for good. Another possibility is that since Si Xing Long's dragon ball used to belong to Master Gohan (Gokus grandfather)and the Dragon Ball that Goku most cherished, it may have absorbed some of their good spirit.
Wu Xing Long Template:Appears in:DBGT
(FUNimation's dub: Rage Shenron)
Despite his small size, Wu Xing Long carries the power of electricity. He creates a slimy substance that draws the energy out of any object that it touches; the energy is then transferred to his body as strength. The more Wu ing Long absorbs, the larger he gets, which turns out to be his downfall. Just as he is about to kill Goku, rain starts to fall. It turns out that he expanded himself too large and had nowhere to hide from the precipitation, which ultimately short-circuited him out. Although Wu survived the short-circuit, Goku killed him as soon as it was apparent that Wu still wanted to eliminate Goku, and the Dragon Ball embedded in the dragon was restored.
Wu Xing Long was born when Son Gokū (FUNimation's dub: Goku) was wished back to life before Vegeta and Nappa landed on planet Earth.
Liu Xing Long Template:Appears in:DBGT
(FUNimation's dub: Oceanus Shenron)
The Dragon of Water and Wind, Liu Xing Long, dons the persona of Princess Oto (Oto-hime-sama in the Japanese version).
Because she captures schools of fish and rains them down on the villagers, the fishermen don't have to fish, and the people in this small fishing village worship her as a god. However, a young villager is suspicious of her, since the seagulls had been acting strangely since her arrival. When asked which wish she was born from, Princess Oto becomes angry and embarrassed. This is because she was born when Oolong wished for a pair of women's panties. Her powers revolve around hurricanes: She can generate a hurricane as defense, the wind diverting any attack that hits it, as well as for offense, the wind also causing damage to anything and anyone it touches, she is unaware of the strength of this wind, as shown when she used it against Goku, unintentionally ripping off all of his clothes then blushing bright red and calling time until Pan dresses him in a spare Gi. Additionally, it turns out that Liu can put up a disguise using wind to make herself appear far more beautiful (in the form of Oto) than her true appearance, which is closer to an ogre.).
At first, Pan and Goku are unable to break through Liu's barrier, but Pan finds a weak spot: Pan is able to defeat her by firing a Kamehameha from above, since Liu actually resides in the calm and therefore unprotected eye of the hurricane.
Qi Xing Long Template:Appears in:DBGT
(FUNimation's dub: Natron Shenron)
Qi Xing Long (Chīshinron / Seven-Star Dragon) is one of the seven Evil Dragons, and is the dragon of earthquakes. He is also the dragon of the Qi Xing Qui (Chīshinchū / Seven-Star Ball). Qi Xing Long was born when Bulma wished for the people killed by Vegeta in the Tenka-ichi Budōkai to be revived.
When Goku, Pan and Giru were searching for the Dragon Balls, Qi Xing Long was the 4th Dragon they found. Goku easily defeated Qi Xing Long, but then the evil dragon tricked Pan and absorbed her. He gained much power, but due to cockiness (a flaw of many Dragon Ball characters) Gokū was able to retrieve Pan, destroy Qi Xing Long and get the Qi Xing Qui.
Qi Xing Long is the only character in Dragon Ball (original series), Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT to shoot energy into the ground and also the only character to absorb someone with a Dragon Ball. He is also the only Evil Dragon that can't fly.
Video game appearances
Because most dragons only had minor roles in the series, only Xi Ying Long has appeared as a playable character in a Dragon Ball video game. Yi Xing Long made his first appearance in Dragonball Z: Budokai 3 and is set to be a playable character in both forms in the upcoming Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2.
