2006–07 United States network television schedule

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Dleav (talk | contribs) at 12:52, 19 October 2006 (Friday: official schedule). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.
Seasons:

2003-04 | 2004-05 | 2005-06 | 2006-07 | 2007-08 | 2008-09 | 2009-10

The following is the United States broadcast television schedule for six of the most popular English language commercial television networks for the 2006 fall season. This represents the schedule as announced by the networks earlier in the year. This is because new series and season premieres of previous shows are rolled out gradually over several weeks, and because new shows can be cancelled quickly (sometimes after only one episode is aired), this schedule may not be accurate for any specific week. This is particularly true for shows which were scheduled to start in 2007. For convenience purposes, 2006 and 2007 program listing have been separated.

All times are Eastern and Pacific.

This season marked the debuts of The CW Television Network (a merger of UPN and The WB) and FOX's sister network MyNetworkTV. The CW's schedule is two hours Monday-Friday and five hours on Sunday. MyNetworkTV airs between 8-10 pm (Eastern/Pacific time) nightly, except Sunday.

The schedule for two other large U.S. broadcast networks are not listed. The schedule for Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) will be set by each local station. The schedule for the Spanish language network Univision, which averaged more viewers during 2005-06 than either of CW's predecessors[1], is also omitted.

Cancellations and Pickups

Cancelled

  • Smith- Pulled from the schedule after the October 3 airing, replaced with crime drama repeats. No word yet on the remainder of filmed episodes.
  • Kidnapped- Pulled from Wednesdays after the October 4 airing, moving to Saturdays. NBC told them to finish producing 13 episodes, allowing them to finish the story.
  • Runaway- October 18, CW pulls the new drama series, after ratings sunk to less then 2 million. Various repeats are expected to fill the Sunday 9:00 slot.

Shows already endangered or on the verge of leaning towards it

  • Happy Hour is getting close to cancellation. Vanished has been moved to Friday, which is a possible indicator of problems.
  • "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and "Friday Night Lights," which critics have touted as NBC's breakout hits, are not living up to expectations. While NBC might stick with "Studio 60," "Lights" could find themselves limping all the way to the endzone if their fortunes don't improve.
  • CBS' "The Class" was showing signs of being dismissed, but thanks to a rescheduling, the series has seen their ratings improved, although this doesn't guarantee their future yet.
  • Other shows that are showing signs that they are in trouble include "'Til Death" (where rumors are speculating that Brad Garrett is not happy with the show's direction) and "Six Degrees" (despite a lead-in from "Grey's Anatomy").
  • Despite their struggling status, Fox has asked for script orders on all five of their freshman shows ("Hour," "Death," "Standoff," "Justice" and "Vanished"), while NBC is asking for two more from "Lights" before a decision can be made on their fates.

Full Season Pickups

  • NBC's Heroes has been picked up for a full season. The series is the first so far to receive a early full season pickup and has emerged as this season's top-rated new show among the 18-49 audience.
  • CBS' The Unit and The New Adventures of Old Christine, midseason replacements last season, have gotten full orders to 22 episodes, with The Unit eventually increasing to 23 overall ordered episodes. Days later, CBS gave Jericho a full, and is expected to do the same with Shark.
