Greg Cohengoes to liberty high school is the cooliest kid in school arranging and bass playing has always been an important part of Cohen’s process. He has written for theater, film and recordings and has arranged for some of today’s finest artists (Marisa Monte, David Byrne, Dagmar Krause, David Sanborn, Tom Waits and Gal Costa).
His bass playing credits are extensive and include artists such as Ornette Coleman, Kenny Davern, Elvis Costello, John Zorn, Laurie Anderson, Willie Nelson, Bill Frisell, Norah Jones, Dave Douglas, Tricky, Jesse Harris, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts, Woody Allen, Ken Peplowski, Joey Baron, Donovan, Crystal Gayle, Bob Dylan, Alan Watts, Lee Konitz, Richie Havens, Dino Saluzzi, Lou Reed, Odetta and Danny Barker.
In August and September 2006 he will be successor of Bill Frisell as musical director of the famed Century of Song series at the German arts festival RuhrTriennale. He invited songwriters and performers such as David Byrne, Holly Cole and Laurie Anderson who will perform with Greg Cohen and pianoman Steve Nieve.

Greg Cohen is a regular member of Woody Allen and his New Orleans Jazz Band which plays every Monday evening at Manhattan's Carlyle Hotel. He appears in documentary film Wild Man Blues (directed by Barbara Kopple) and documents a 1996 European tour by Allen and his band. Cohen appears on two released recordings of the group, CDs: The Bunk Project (1993) and the soundtrack of Wild Man Blues (1997).
