Mrs. Adeline Sylvia Eugeina Ama Yeboakua Akufo-Addo (Nee Ofori-Atta) was the First Lady in the second republic of Ghana.[1]

Personal Life

Adeline was born on December 17, 1917 to Nana Ofori-Atta I, Omanhene of Akyem Abuakwa (father) and Madam Agnes Akosua Dodua of the Okyeame Boafo Oyoko family of Abomosu (mother).[2] She was installed as the Abontendomhene (queenmother of the royals of the Ofori Panin Fie of Kyebi), earning her the title Nana Yeboakua Ofori-Atta.[3] She was a mother of four children. [4] She was married to the late Justice Edward Akufo-Addo who became the president of Ghana in 1970. [5] On Sunday March 21, 2004, she passed away at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, aged 86 years.[6] [7]
