Judy Ann Santos (born May 11, 1978) is a Filipina television and movie actress. She was born and raised in Manila.

"Juday" is one of the most popular young actresses in Philippine cinema and television who is celebrating her 20 years in showbusiness in 2006. Most recently, she starred in "Don't Give Up On Us", a film by Joyce Bernal, co-starring with Piolo Pascual, who has starred with her in four other films - "Esperanza - The Movie", "Kahit Isang Saglit", "Bakit 'Di Totohanin", and "Till There Was You". Her next movie "Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo", directed by Jose Javier Reyes, opens on December 25, 2006.

"Juday" is well-known for headlining several drama series - "Mara Clara", "Esperanza", "Judy Ann Drama Special", "Sa Puso Ko Iingatan Ka", the action/drama/comedy/romance series "Basta't Kasama Kita", the science-fiction/fantasy/adventure series "Krystala", and the recently-concluded adult drama/romance series Sa Piling Mo. The teleserye Sa Piling Mo was just honored with the Best Primetime Drama Series statuette by the PMPC Star Awards for TV. "Juday" herself received two nominations - one for Sa Piling Mo - and another one for Maalaala Mo Kaya (the "Rosaryo" episode).

"Juday" also appeared twice in Komiks, a weekly fantasy series, where she played Inday Bote and Inday sa Balitaw - largely comedic roles originated by Ms. Maricel Soriano. Already in the can is her reprisal of Ms. Nora Aunor's Super Gee character in an upcoming Komiks episode.

Trivia

  • Juday holds the rare distinction of being the other-half of three memorable loveteams - ratings-wise and box-office-wise - Wowie de Guzman, the late Rico Yan, and Piolo Pascual. All three team-ups figured in tv shows turned into films namely: Mara Clara, Gimik: The Reunion and Esperanza.
  • Before headlining the premiere episodes of the first and second season of KOMIKS, Juday co-starred with Rico Yan in the premiere of WANSAPANATAYM back in 1997 in an episode entitled Ang Mahiwagang Palasyo directed by Johnny Manahan.
  • Juday was the first young artist to be featured in STAR DRAMA THEATRE PRESENTS after a slew of veteran stars. She was also the only young actress featured for three times.
  • Juday was one of the youngest stars to be given her own drama anthology via JUDY ANN DRAMA SPECIAL. Despite the word 'drama' in the title, Juday actually portrayed varied roles from drama to comedy to fantasy to horror to action and back.
  • Juday was the recipient of the FAMAS GERMAN MORENO YOUTH ACHIEVEMENT AWARD in 1997. She was part of the teen musical-variety show THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT. Other hosting jobs included stints on MTB, ASAP and SOP.
  • The character Esperanza Estrera gave Juday Best Actress nominations in both its tv (2000 PMPC Star Awards) and film (1999 Metro Manila Film Festival) versions. The ratings finale of Esperanza, still ranks as the highest among locally-produced soap operas up to this day. 58% in Mega Manila and 65.3% Nationwide.
  • In the 1997 Metro Manila Film Festival, Juday received her first acting accolades for film - a double nomination for Nasaan Ang Puso? and Babae in the supporting actress category. These films were adjudged 1st and 2nd Best Picture respectively. It was also Juday's first time to be directed by Chito Rono and Lupita Kashiwahara.
  • In 1998, Juday received her first FAMAS and her first FAP (now called LUNA) nominations for Nasaan Ang Puso? where she shared the big screen with Ms. Maricel Soriano for the first time as an adult. Juday was just a Regal Films' child star when they first worked together in Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang.
  • Since acquiring above-the-title billing status for Sana Naman in 1996, Juday's most productive year in terms of full-length film output was in 1997 (8 movies), followed by 2002 (6 films), 1998 (5 films) and 1999 (4 films excluding her special guest appearance in Gimik: The Reunion). Conversely, Juday's slowest movie year was in 2005 when she had no films shown, followed by 2000 (2 films), 2003 (2 films), 1996 (3 films), 2001 (3 films), 2004 (3 films) and 2005 (3 films including her first digital feature Miss Pinoy).
  • After reigning as Teenage Queen of RP Movies (1996-1997) and Ms. RP Movies (1998), Juday was crowned Box-Office Queen at the age of 21. The Box-Office King title was given to Fernando Poe, Jr. for their first-and-last film team-up Isusumbong Kita Sa Tatay Ko. Two planned sequels never materialized due to FPJ's sudden death.
  • In 2003, Juday received her first Gawad Urian and first PMPC Star Awards for Movies nominations for Magkapatid where she shared the big screen with Ms. Sharon Cuneta for the first time.
  • A June 2002 Manila Film Festival Best Actress contender for Magkapatid, Juday lost to Ms. Sharon Cuneta. Ms. Gloria Romero who won as Best Supporting Actress said that "had Judy Ann stayed on in the Best Supporting Actress category, I would have lost." It was Juday's first time to be directed by Joel Lamangan.
  • In 2004, Juday won her first-ever acting award for film as Best Supporting Actress for Mano Po 2 where she shared the big screen with Ms. Susan Roces. It was her first ENPRESS Golden Screen nomination.
  • Juday's movies competed in the June 2004 Manila Film Festival (Sabel) and December 2004 Metro Manila Film Festival (Aishite Imasu). She lost to Ms. Nora Aunor in June and to Ms. Vilma Santos in December.
  • In 2005, Juday was nominated in all the award-giving bodies with the exception of U.P. Film Desk's Young Critics Circle for all her 2004 film releases (I Will Survive, Sabel and Aishite Imasu) - all scripted by Ricky Lee and all directed by Joel Lamangan.
  • For the second time in her career, Juday received another double nomination - this time in the lead Actress category. Her first nod was as Best Actress (Musical or Comedy) for I Will Survive but she lost to her co-star Ms. Maricel Soriano. This nomination marked Juday's first time to be recognized in a comedic performance. Her second nod was as Best Actress (Drama) for Sabel which she won. These were her second and third nominations from ENPRESS Golden Screen.
  • In a hotly-contested 2005 Best Actress race which included acting legends Ms. Nora Aunor and Ms. Vilma Santos, Juday finally triumphed in the lead actress category. In only her second Gawad Urian nomination (the first was for supporting actress), she won for Sabel.
  • Before the year 2005 ended, Juday won her first-ever acting award for television as Best Drama Actress for Krystala after receving three other nominations from PMPC Star Awards for TV. This was her first superheroine role.
  • Basta't Kasama Kita, Juday's television team-up with Robin Padilla, resulted in Outstanding Direction and Outstanding Drama Series honors from the 1st ENPRESS Golden Screen Entertainment TV Awards in 2004. This pioneering actionserye featured a historic first-ever live finale in Luneta Park that was even cut short due to the swelling crowds.
  • In October 2006, Sa Piling Mo, Juday's third television team-up with Piolo Pascual after Esperanza, and SA PUSO KO IINGATAN KA, won Best Primetime Drama Series from the 20th PMPC Star Awards for TV. Touted as Juday's most adult teleserye so far, the finale was broadcast commercial-free finale - another first in Philippine television.
  • 2006's Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo marks Juday's 10th filmfest movie. Magkapatid (2002) and Sabel (2004) competed in the now defunct June Manila Film Festival. December Metro Manila Film Festival entries included Father En Son (1994) with Dolphy, Babae (1997) with Nida Blanca and Nora Aunor, Nasaan Ang Puso? (1997), Kasal...Kasalan, Sakalan (1998), Esperanza (1999), Mano Po 2: My Home (2003) and Aishite Imasu (2004).
