The 49th Regiment Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry was an infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War.

Service

The 49th Wisconsin was organized at Milwaukee, Wisconsin and mustered into Federal service between December 24 , 1864 and March 5, 1865.

The regiment was mustered out on March 24, 1866 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Casualties

The 49th Wisconsin suffered 54 enlisted men who died of disease, for a total of 54 fatalities.[[1]
