Good Friday is a special day celebrated by Christians on the Friday before Easter or Pascha. It commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Often times, special prayer services are held on this day, which are highlighted by readings from the Gospels concerning the events leading up to the crucifixion. Many Christians view the death itself as a voluntary and victorious action taken by Jesus Christ by which death itself was conquered, rather than seeing it as a temporary defeat to be reversed by His resurrection three days later.
