Kitakyu Type 8000 train, one of several types operated on the Midosuji Line
The Midosuji Line (大阪市営地下鉄御堂筋線, Ōsaka-shiei-chikatetsu-Midōsuji-sen ) is the oldest and most traveled line of the Osaka Municipal Subway in Japan. It is named after the Midosuji, a major north-south avenue in Osaka. Most of the line runs underneath the Midosuji, except for the portion north of Nakatsu, which runs above ground in the median of the Shin-Midosuji expressway.
The section between Senri-Chuo and Esaka is operated by Kita-Osaka Kyuko Railway , but is seamless with the rest of the line.
The Midosuji Line offers access to Dotonbori , one of Osaka's main tourist attractions .
